Q: Hello, I am wondering what your thought is on nuclear energy and uranium stocks. As we know the world is turning fully electric with cars and much more. All this power has to come from somewhere and nuclear seems like one of the best ways to create clean energy. I know OPG is building a new SMR (small modular reactor) at darlington plant in the future and if it all goes well more are to be put up in other areas. Would this be a sector worth while looking into sooner rather then later?

Q: TK on July 26 (I saw this on the 25th) questioned you about SHOP saying he didn't want to throw good money after bad. You advised you added it to your portfolio indicating it was a buy. I seen this prior to buying it on the 25th at $47.9 and on the 26th in the morning it was down under $40. I assume you follow this stock quite closely as it seems one of the more popular stocks you deal with, Was this so well hidden by the company that even Sherlock Holmes would not uncover the issues they were having? Thank you,

Q: Right now I have GOOG at about 5% and ATY around 2%. I am thinking of selling ATY and about 1% of GOOG to purchase some ROKU. Does this seem like a good idea?

Q: I often hear money managers talk about buying a specific stock (e.g. Apple to choose a simple one) and then writing covered calls against it ….. and emphasizing the prospect of winning both ways.

I am not keen on taking a course in options trading at this point.

Does it make sense to attempt the same kind of thing using etfs?

For example, in technology using XIT or TEC and pairing it with ZWT;

or other sectors too, such as energy XLE … or XLF for financials? In this case can you suggest a couple of covered calls - one for energy and one for financials?

Q: Looking to put more reserves into bonds & more secure investments. Looking at your "Balanced Portfolio" I do not see your favourites in this area?
I am underwater with XEB which has little exposure to Russia and Ukraine (downloaded their portfolio), do you have alternatives with a good return and expected to perform well during an economic downturn?
Is there anything fundamentally wrong with XEB as an investment financially?

Q: Rather than buy TIP directly, I am leaning towards buying XSTP and/or XSTH. Given that they are only 15% correlated (no doubt due to the CAD-hedged aspect of XSTH) I am leaning towards buying both. What is your perspective on this scenario for an income portfolio given the current state of U.S./CAD dollar exchange rates?

Q: So many of your recent answers to member questions have statements like:

"will need a better market environment to perform better"

"it will need a 'good' market to perform"

"A better market will see this stock rise sharply"

"it is still an expensive stock and will only work well if the market co-operates"

It is almost like you are blaming the market for the poor performance of so many stocks. Like how companies blame the weather for their poor results -- but their competitors had the same weather.

So, what do you mean by a "better market"? What has to happen to be in a better market environment?

Q: It’s been a while since there has been a question on WILD , the former DHX Media. In reading previous questions , debt has been a significant issue. How is their current financial situation and what are future expected earnings ?
Management seems very strong and experienced ; I know a sale was unsuccessfully attempted several years ago Was there different management at that time and what are your thoughts on a potential sale ? I am looking at a 3 year time frame for this in my TFSA realizing current market conditions are probably not conducive. Your thoughts?

Q: Thanks to your wonderful Portfolio Tracking and Analysis, I know that Energy makes up 11.07 % of my portfolio. Your statistical recommendation is that energy should be 5 % of my personalized portfolio. In order of rate of return, I have Tourmaline Oil, Enbridge, Whitecap, Suncor, Athabasca and Tamarack Valley. I am more heavily weighted in Tourmaline and Enbridge but my question is twofold. Am I really overweight in energy at this time and if so other than trimming from my two big winners, which two or three companies would you eliminate to pare back closer to 5%? The proceeds would go to buying ATD.b and Loblaws. Thanks for this wonderful service.

Q: I am overweight in these 3 companies. I need to raise some capital by selling some of the shares from one of these 3 holdings. What would be your recommendation? It will not significantly affect my diversification.
