Q: Good day.
DIR.UN: I read that REITs become favourable in a rising interest rate environment. Is this true for industrial REITs too? Could you please help me to understand why. I assume that they can raise rents, but do they not have longer term rental contracts (?). Any property purchases would also cost them more. How do they benefit from higher interest rates? Thank you.

Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. (KL)
Q: AEM and KL have lagged the sector, as represented by XGD, since the announcement in September of the merger. I suspect this is due primarily to investors that hold both lightening up now that they are the same company - I am in that boat myself. How long do you expect AEM/KL to lag, when will it recover relative to the sector, or should I sell and diversify to another name now. What would you regard as an equivalent investment (well run, safe jurisdictions) or should I just move to XGD? I currently hold FNV as well as AEM/KL.
Q: Is MFC a good way to play China and the rising middle class while avoiding the governance issues of Chinese listed companies? At 38%, could the China exposure give it an edge in growth over SLF?
Q: With large protests in major Canadian cities over the weekend, do you expect a decline in
capacity output and other downdrafts in economic metrics to show up in next few quarters?

RBC Canadian Dividend Fund Series A (RBF266)
Q: Do to a few errors/mistakes in switching brokerages, I ended up removing these from an RRSP and TFSA accounts and left them in limbo in a non- reg account. I am aware of the serious overlap among the RBF266, XDV,CDZ and XIU. (They were in separate accounts at one time). If I should consolidate, what are your thoughts? What stays and what goes? If I were to begin selling and adding stocks, I was thinking BAM.A and ?Twenty year time frame. Have maxed TFSA.
Cheers and thanks,
Paul

Have good day. Thanks.

Q: I have 6K in my TFSA that I’d like to deploy. Presently the TFSA contains the following names and the weight for each one of my TOTAL portfolio (Margin+TFSA+RRSP).
EGLX 0.87%
GSY 3.75%
LSPD 1.62%
MG 5.41%
NTR 6.26%
SHOP 2.05%
WELL 1.94%
NVDA 3.42%
PLTR 1.33%
PINS 0.53%
TFII 5.74%
U 2.29%
Should I sell EGLX and PINS since they have dropped below 1% of the portfolio?
Should I add to one, two or three of these names? If so in what order of preference?
Or should I go with another suggestion? If you can list 5 in order of preference.
Any sector CDN or USA.
I will not need the cash for another 8-10 years minimum.
Thanks for all you do.

Q: This is a follow-up to our question from last week (see: https://www.5iresearch.ca/questions/140708).
Based on your response that nothing in the list gives you much cause for concern, we would understand this to imply none of the 30 stocks would be considered a "sell" today.
Please divide the 30 stocks into a pair of ranked (best to worst) lists, one of "buys" and the other of "holds". As well, for each of the "holds" indicate the principal rationale for caution.

Q: The global commodity strategy team at BofA Securities has identified 27 raw materials they group under the acronym MIFT – metals important for future technology – that are vital for the rise of renewable power, and should see significant price increases as demand climbs. My question is; could you provide guidance on an ETF that one might consider as a means to invest broadly in these raw materials? Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Q: I'm looking to start a position in 2 or 3 of these companies. It would be in a TFSA. I already have 12 stock positions from your Balanced Equity portfolio in RRSP accounts.
Q: This is a difficult question to answer but was wondering if there is a stock or two in your coverage universe that you think has been unfairly beaten down over past year or so...and perhaps may have turned the corner and is soon (or already is) seeing a change in direction that you think might be sustainable.
