Q: Morning,
I recently acquired some information about a new project development in Alberta. A European private equity company has purchased 5 out of 6 quarters of land along the corridor from Edmonton to Calgary(I know this part for a fact). They are going to invest 1 Billion on each quarter of land for Data Centers. Apparently Alberta has a great amount of Dark Fiber Optics available which is perfect for this.
Do you see any investment opportunities here? I assume these Data Centers will need a huge amount of power, so would power producers be an area of opportunity? Such as CPX . Let me know what you think and any ideas.

Q: Many companies stand to benefit from the rise of nuclear energy. Is this a good time to invest (long term) in such companies? I am especially interested in the risk-reward profile of the following: Cameco(CCJ), Constellation Energy(CEG), Centrus Energy(LEU) and NexGen Energy(NEX). Are there others that you prefer (Canadian or U.S.)? Or do you believe an ETF focused on uranium/nuclear energy would be a better investment at this time? Thanks for your help. You provide a great service!

Q: The more growth portion of my cash portfolio ( which is full of financials, utilities etc) now consists of BN, GSY and LMN and have been very happy with them ( thanks to you).

Now am looking at one of the 3 highlighted companies. I have not been in oil for years and do not see the price of oil being in an upward trend , however CNQ seems to be favoured by many analysts. I am impressed with TFII earnings in a sector that is experiencing softness. FSV , again , has reported good earnings with their newly acquired roofing business leading the way.

I suspect you would pick any of this 3 as my next acquisition. Should I throw a dart and see which one I hit or does one stand out from the others ?
Thanks. Derek

Q: I have held West Fraser for some time, sold to take out my original investment cost and have been holding the remainder for a few years wondering if or when housing demand will start to boost the lumber/panel prices.

I think now, or soon, is a time to consider adding a different company, near the bottom of the cycle in preparation for a trend of rising prices. Canfor is going to be challenged with BC fibre supply in the interior of BC as a result of fires and government policy, while Interfor has (I think) diversified nicely into the US; Canfor less so.

I already own Home Depot and would like to add another producer; Interfor, Canfor or a strong US producer. Your insights on your "top 2" companies would be appreciated.

As always, Thanks very much.

Dave
