Q: Could you elaborate on your answer today to Alan regarding CSU debentures. I am not familiar with debentures...Am I correct in understanding they are like bonds but have no rights to any of the Company's assets if things go wrong ? Other downsides?
Would you recommend the CSU debenture as part of one's fixed income ? You mention liquidity, but not sure how poor that is ? How would I find out more information about the CSU debenture - length of term, etc. I use a discount broker - is it possible to buy through them ?
Any other information that you think would be pertinent would be most appreciated. Many thanks as always.

Q: Just a small follow up on the question by Alan.
the rate is determined each March and is the rate of CHANGE in the inflation rate plus 6.5, never to be less then zero. In other words if the rate of change in inflation in a year is -1 % then the rate on the deb will be 6.5-1= 5.5% , and so on.

Appreciate your views on CSU debentures. They seem to guarantee 6.5% plus the inflation rate, so have been yielding 7.5-8%. Seems like a good vehicle for income. Thx

Q: Hi 5i

I own most of BE along with AAPL,GOOGL,DIS, TD, BEP.UN and a few others. Want to add 2 of the above soon. Which 2 would you recommend now?

Also, I would like to know your thoughts on PEG/PEGY ratios. Do you use them and if so, how?

Thanks, Greg

Q: Hi, can you please advise current PE ratios for each of these companies. Can you also rank them best to worst for adding a new position today for 3-5 year investment not taking into account sector diversification within the portfolio.

Q: Howdy!
I try to be a buy and hold investor with a long-term investment horizon in my RRSP account.
I have recently joined your service and am thinking about trying to reposition my RRSP account to emulate the sector allocation in your Balanced Portfolio.
About 30% of my portfolio is sitting on cash /cash equivalent investments right now; and I have almost 0% in the Technology and Basic Materials sectors.
As such, would you recommend a position in all of the nine equities that represent the Tech and Basic Materials sectors in your Balanced Portfolio?
Or have some of them (like CCL.B) peaked /not as much room left for appreciation compared to when first bought?

Q: What would your top 4 buys be to hold in a taxable account? What would be your suggested time frame for each?

Q: I've noted in the Q&A section you continue to support both CSU AND CGNX. I already own CSU and note that with all the 'noise' these days it seems to go about its business and is much more stable than some of the other tech. companies. Would you consider CGNX to be the same kind of company and do you think it would be a top American company to complement CSU? Are there 1 or 2 other tech. companies (Canadian or American) you could recommend that you favour that would help me to gain good diversification to the technology sector. As further guidance, I appreciated Mike's caution about the importance of being patient, but I must admit, I personally find it easier to maintain my patience when I'm invested in less volatile companies. As always, I appreciate your guidance.

As of today, which stocks would you purchase with a full position in an RRSP to hold for 3-5 years?

Which stocks would you consider value stocks to purchase today for 1/2 to a full position in an RRSP?

Thank you for your excellent service and advice.

Cheers,

Jerry & Debbie

Q: Hi Peter and Company,

I have looked at metrics (beta, market cap, p/cash flow ratio, p/e ratio, dividend rate) for the above 3 mentioned IT/tech companies and feel that OTEX seems to have the best metrics among them. Would you please comments on these companies and rank them accordingly.

Cheers,
Harry
