Q: hi, with respect to new BYD ticker not being updated on some portfolio tracker financial sites, I think the issue lies with the financial site's delay in adding/updating the new symbol. I use Globe Investor, where new ticker was available after 1-2 days. But,I had to record a sale of all BYD.un units and a new purchase of BYD shares, after 2 days when ticker was available. The security/ticker and holding is not replaced/updated, automatically. Hope it helps. Thanks

Q: With respect to the differences between the year end value of BYD.UN and what some brokerage firms have used, I received word from TD that they will be using the price of the shares of BYD when they received the shares not the date when the transaction occurred. TD received the shares on January 8, 2020 and they used the closing price of BYD on January 7, 2020, which was $215.77 vs. the closing price of BYD.UN of $202.00 on December 31, 2019.

Q: Just noticed a question from Michael about having some issues with Google Sheets function pulling quotes for BYD (Boyd Group Services).

I'm having issues too! It is not working for either BYD.UN or BYD. Just to confirm the formula to use is typically:
=GOOGLEFINANCE("exchange:tickersymbol") This is what should work, but is not currently working at the moment:
=GOOGLEFINANCE("TSE:BYD")

Q: Hi, here is the email response as received from the CFO of Boyd Group, for clarification about conversion price of units. Hope it's helpful. I now, intend to take it up with my broker.
" At December 31, 2019, the closing price of the Trust Units was $202.00, which could be deemed to represent the fair market value of the BGSI Common Shares on January 1, 2020. This position is not binding on the CRA and we recommend that you consult your tax advisor with respect to the appropriate mechanism of valuing the BGSI Common Shares received pursuant to the Arrangement. From a quality of investment with a 3-5 yr potential, perspective (not sector nor type of account etc,..) in what order would you make the purchases within each of the two groups?
