Q: To all the great folks at 5i a big thank you. Our returns have been calculated for 2019 and we are up about 33.8% across all accounts! Yeah!! Total trading costs for the year about $160 + 5i subscription!!! Thanks 5i. If averaged with 2018 returns things only look "good" rather than "great" but with basically, not many portfolio changes. Buy and hold!!! Thank you for teaching me patience. Now if I could just learn to take some profits! What will 2020 bring... We will see in time.

Q: I own enbridge and have done well on it. I struggle to hold it as psychologically long term we are moving away from fossil fuels and have been thinking of going into BIP. So ENB will have to move away from their reliance on FF transportation and into other projects. What are your thoughts on this longer term theory. Do you think shorter term, say 5 - 10 years, this theory is irrelevant?

Q: In your last report on MTY it was rated as a b+. However that was about 2 years ago.

I won the stock and was in the red after its precipitous fall following its last earning report. However, it has recovered and I am breaking even now.

So its time to revisit this holding. Would you think there is significant price appreciation ahead or is it time to search for greener pastures?

Your recommendation please.

Q: If you were a contrarian investor what sectors would you guys think would be a great area to look into at this time? Maybe pick 2 sectors and 1 or 2 stocks in those sectors. If room maybe add your reasoning as well. Feel free to deduct as many credits as nessacary.

Q: Hi, using your analytical tool, it's telling me I'm still somewhat light on my tech sector. I hold a full position in CSU (and have done very well), and have half positions in OTEX and KXS (up reasonably well) and a quarter position in LSPD (flat).

What would you add to to bring my overall sector weighting up? I"m a middle of the road investor.

Your service is good and very appreciated . Awhile back when asked you indicated that other than very easy questions Peter reviews each answer .

Recently a couple of times a stock was said to be in a different sector than it is

Today Stan wondered if there were problems with a negative ACB on Richards PAckaging. He specifically said in a TFSA or other registered account - the answer that CRA will treat the negative ACB as a capital gain is clearly wrong .

Q: Hi 5i team,

During the fall, I saw several questions on stock metrics, so I thought I would follow up before earnings season starts again, as I notice differences between business sites, depending on assumptions. I tend to defer to the Companies section as that is what you use in your answers, I believe.

In the Companies data, are the PE ratios and the various Price to Comparisons TTM or forward looking? I use Price to Sales all the time for those tech stocks that do not show any earnings. Would you view around 10X as getting expensive or under which offers relative “value”, if I can use that term for tech stocks? I notice in a recent question, you mentioned LSPD, one of your favourites, but that trades over 30 times. I really don’t use the Price to Cash Flow or Free Cash Flow ratios. They seem to be all over the map, with wide variances, so I have trouble interpreting their significance. Which one do you prefer and what would be a general threshold for getting expensive?

Q: Brookfield group tend to buy out the remaining interest in a company in which they already have a partial interest. Is it possible for you to identify those companies and list the percentage of interest owned by Brookfield?

Q: My Husband and I have some funds to add to our TFSA's. We have a basket of solid dividend paying stocks between us. My husband has a small position in LAC and has been following it closely. He says they are executing their development plans in Argentina and Nevada and the stock is starting to move.. Would you agree? What's your take on LAC for a 4-5 year hold to participate in the EV boom?

Q: Hi guys
I have been a holder of rpi.un for many years once held 10000 shares .
I have trimmed every year to keep the percentage in line and am now down to 2400 shares.
With the run up now over $50 my percentage is higher than I like but I have a reluctance to trim any lower.
Your thoughts this now ten percent also what are the drivers in your opinion that is pushing this stock.
In my tsfa I am almost at zero book value what is CRA position on a negative book value in a tsfa and any other registered account
