Q: Good Morning. I have US dollars that I want to invest for my recently born grandchildren so there is a 15-20 year timeframe. Please advise 5 ideas, US $ stocks or etfs, and rank in order from low risk to high. I will likely purchase a mix and compare how they perform over time. Thank you.

Q: I'm interested in investing in some U.S. companies by using CDR's. As the years go by it seems the list is getting longer. Q: I submitted this question on Sunday, so now re-submitting...

Asking this question for a friend who is relatively new to investing (and may be a future 5i client:-)

She has $200k in a non-registered account and is contemplating a balance of 75% US ETFs and 25% US equities, any sector. The account is growth-focused, moderate to medium risk; no funds will be withdrawn for 3-5 years. Given these parameters, please suggest 4 ETFs and 4 stocks she should consider. Thank you.

Q: I have read the question history on Quantum related companies and have noted that these 4 seem to be most well known.

Are there any publicly traded, earlier stage (not yet pumped) companies that are worth monitoring for future potential? Not companies you buy today but companies with interesting concepts/potential in this field that could be "next".

Q: We have ~$8000 in cash in a TFSA currently holding 5 securities (ATD, BCE, CP, GOOG, TECKa; [the portfolio is otherwise well-diversified with ~20 other securities held within RSP/non-registered accounts]), and would like to add to one or two of the positions. Which one or two would you recommend to add to these existing holdings (position size is not an issue), and why?

Q: Hi team, Amazon DSP.. I think people just assume it’s always going to be a two-way race between Google and TTD. Can I get your take
on Amazon’s DSP and if it *could* become the 2nd most dominant player after Google? I have a 3% position and looking to make it 5%. Are you a buyer today? I have a 3.4% position in Apple which I’m considering selling completely to fund this.

Q: As Google spent US$48 Bn a year (2024) it should have very robust search engines. The startup, perplexity.ai, is reportedly valued at US$9 Bn now. Mr Bezos and others back the firm. Personally, I haven't noticed big change for quite a while in Google's searching features. Do you if / know when perplexity might be brought public, and whether is looks at this point to be close to being knock Google's searching feature away? If it could, would you expect this to have much impact on Google's profitability?

Q: hey guys happy new year hope all is well in my rrsp i currently have all Canadian equities. i would like to start adding some US content my 1st question would be is this even viable with the exchange or wait until its better. In current atmosphere i am thinking there would be more upside. My second question would be in what sector. For this year's 7K TFSA contribution, I'm considering adding Alphabet. Due to the decline in both BCE and T, we are very underweight in this sector. Also, we're underweight in USA holdings as well. Would you endorse this strategy? Thanks as always for your insight.

Q: I was thinking of adding my recent TFSA contribution to EQB however then started wondering if some of the growth oriented US$ holdings in the account would be a better option. 5I has been positive about EQB but I wonder if it will have a lack lustre performance due to it being in the weak Cdn economy….that is, it may be a good company but limited to how well it can do. Your thoughts about all this, please. Thank you for your excellent service.
