Q: As a follow up to my question on January 8 regarding ETFs you suggested ZSP to represent S&P 500
Would HXS be a better alternative since there will be no withholding tax in the TFSA as per asked by Danny boy on January 10?

Q: Can you please provide some feedback on OPFI? Is there a reason why there was a surge in price today? Thanks!
Q: Thanks for your reply on the effects of Trump tariffs on various stocks I own . I will be doing a little re-balancing based on your answers . However you didn't opine on two on the list . ENB which I would suspect may be affected by a tariff on oil and AND which has both Canadian and American operations though I'm not sure of how much of each they have. Thanks again for your terrific service ......
Q: Hi!
Regarding these 2 companies which one has more growth prospects, better value for 2025? Are they overlapping businesses or complimentary to each other? I have a nice gain in MS thinking about trimming and buying some GS.
Ok thanks!

Q: I am trying to understand how an ETF like XIU works. Does a shareholder actually own any stocks when they own this etf, or do they just own shares in a fund that tracks the TSX 60, but doesn't actually own the individual companies?
Q: I note that dividends from this firm may be subject to withholding tax.
Can you name any Canadian companies who pay dividends/distributions in US dollars, and who might NOT be subject to holding tax?
I would prefer it if you knew firms who pay in excess of 5% dividends.
Thanks!
Paul

Q: You have remained quite positive on Hammond.
Can you advise where their products are produced (I suspect most products for NA are produced in Mexico, therefore subject to any Trump tarries on Mexico, but I may be wrong).
Also do they have the capability of doing some manufacturing in the US

Q: hi
do you have any thoughts on the effects of a Google "break-up" of assets, which could include a forced sell of "chrome"?
any thoughts on the likelihood of this with the new president?
cheers, Chris

Q: Hello 5i
Since last earnings and most recent Q&A in 5i (Nov 7) this share price has been falling.
Is the price action related to the previous earnings miss or earnings growth expectations changing due to business or Tariff concerns?
With a 5 year view on this name, does one just continue to hold through the downside volatility with anticipation for better future earnings and share price?
Thank

Q: The company news release sounds like optimistic talk covering up lower production. This being a new merger I cannot tell if this is rhetoric - spinning bad news, or progress being made, higher production and profitability around the corner? Your take on this please.

Q: I have a small position in Element Solutions and am thinking of adding to it but can't find any previous questions. I'm also thinking of adding to Amphenol and starting a new position Roblox, Meta and Costco.. This would be in the growth portion of my portfolio. Or I could add to Vertiv and Axon. I have about 70k USD to deploy.
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Peter, is there a list of TSX listed companies that get a majority of their earnings from US operations ? With US protectionism and aggression likely to increase is it a sound strategy to focus on these companies with the $Cdn portion of a equity retirement portfolio ? Thank you.

Exchange Income Corporation (EIF)
Q: A good portion of my smaller cap portfolio weighting is in these 4 stocks. They seem reasonably diverse sector wise but the first three have been trending down for 3 months or more, and EIF seems to be now following suit. From a lot of recent commentary I was thinking small and mid-cap names might have a bit of a tail wind, at least on a valuation basis. I know I shouldn’t focus on 3-6 months but still a bit “vexing” watching them slide. I’ve read the recent q&a on all of them, don’t see any alarming comments really, any new concerns I’m missing?
