Q: The FTSE 100 near all time high co-relates to higher valuations in Europe correct? How does or could this impact TOI’s M&A strategy? The company has been stealth like in its communication and thin on traded volume. Do you have any insight to its recent activity? When does it report and what should we be looking for?

Q: On jan 17 you indicated the recent stock move was a bit "suspicious." Can you expand and explain what you mean by this. Thanks John
Q: Hi, Thank you for the updated research report on Constellation Software. I found it really interesting and highly informative. We have owned CSU shares in all family members' accounts and thanks to stock's glowing performance over these years ( Big Thanks to 5i's strong conviction), its weighting continues to grow. Even after trimming our holding regularly, every year, CSU has a weighting between 12% to 15%, in each portfolio. In addition, we also own TOI, between 2.5% to 3.5% for each member. We like CSU a lot and the TOI/Lumine spinoffs are just one of those host of reasons. Need your expert opinion on following:
1. We leave the CSU weight as is and continue to trim each year, eventually to reach,
say 7-10% weight over next 5-10 years. Do you see much company/sector risk with this strategy ?
( This approach has helped us in spreading huge built in capital gains - ACB $450, over separate years. Based on tenure/experience of our ownership, we are very comfortable with 10% +)
2. We cut TOI holding to <2% or eliminate altogether, as CSU already has a large ownership in the company.
3. We leave CSU and TOI, at currents weights 12.5%/2.5%, in each member's portfolio and do nothing.
Total Tech weighting in each member's portfolio is 20-25 %, balance being SHOP and KXS,
Thank you.

Q: Hi, Most of Quality companies' stocks in Technology sector have bounced back nicely, during the first 2 weeks in January. But Kinaxis has not moved at all and still stuck around $140 level. We have held on to a 2% position, based on 5i' conviction as being one of the best in supply/logistics software sector, similar to Descartes. Any reasons for the lagging performance ? Is it time to move on and allocate the capital to better use elsewhere ? Thank You
Q: Peter, I have a question that may sound stupid but here goes. Trudeau and Biden have said there is no future in a carbon economy and have promised to shut down oil and gas as soon as possible. What then does the future hold for Pembina , Enbridge, Trans Canada ????? I would think that with no product or much less product there future is not good either. Many analyts are promoting Nutrien as they say the world needs more food, yet our leaders are going to cut our food production by limiting fertiliser use. I was a farmer for 40 years in Alberta and grew enough Barley Wheat Canola and beef cattle to feed thousands of people a year. This would not have happened without the nutrients to grow it. If all of these things are taken away please tell me what is left to invest in??? Banks?? Thank you Ken
Q: Peter; BIR can’t seem to get any traction vs other NG companies. The dividend is minuscule - should one assume it won’t be upped anytime soon- seems like dead money . Is there a reason to sell it and look elsewhere- TOU or ? Your thoughts please. Thanks

Q: Portfolio analytics suggests that I need more international exposure. Can you suggest some ETFs that would provide me with broad exposure to international markets (non-US markets)? Perhaps lower-, medium- and higher-risk options? Thank you.
Q: What criteria do you use in providing suggestions when you are asked for:
a) top dividend picks, or
b) top growth picks?
Thank you.

Q: I have noticed a few TSX listed companies mentioned positively in the 5i answers to questions that I haven't seen before. Nice to see some different names suggested as ones you like. In going back and looking at these companies, I see very good results in the latest earnings report. The stocks have, however, had a nice move up already, since those earnings reports were issued. It would have been great if we were made aware of these very good results soon after they were announced, so that we could not miss out on the subsequent run up in the share price.
So - I am wondering if 5i would consider issuing some kind of alert right after a company has reported quarterly earnings that are impressive, better than expected, and which are now looking like possible buy candidates that we could be looking at. A few of these a year could make a big difference. I try to do this occasionally in the forums section with Canadian companies that I follow that announce very strong results. No in depth analysis needed, just a "hey, have a look at this".

Commodities and oil seems to stand out if you agree what companies have the most potential upside. Also looks like big tech is another beneficiary if you agree what is your top picks in this sector as well. Thanks for your goodwill service it much appreciated

Q: With interest rates rising and bond yields now almost at levels worth looking at I want to start adding a few bonds to my portfolio. Obviously the easy thing to do would be to buy a few of your recommended bond ETFs but I would rather buy and hold individual bonds over bat for the average with an ETF. Can you recommend some good reading material on the subject of building a self managed bond portfolio. I understand the basics, looking for a slightly more advanced guide for a DIY investor.

Q: To full fill RIF withdrawal obligations, I am seeking high yield vehicles and found HYI, ZHY and ZJK, they all have above 6% yield. HYI is called active high yield bond ETF even has 7.33% yield. Does active high yield more risky than other two? What do you take on these ETFs if you are a yield seeking investor? Thanks. Lin
