ATS Corporation (ATS $43.82)
-
Hammond Power Solutions Inc. Class A Subordinate Voting Shares (HPS.A $290.41)
Q: hello 5i:
I am interested in the above companies, but feel both are overvalued at present. Technically, HPS appears to have a "blowoff" topping pattern while ATS is consolodating. Fundamentally, both look a little stretched as far as PE, P/CF go. The subject of growth, of course, will define future gains. From past answers, you like ATS "better" than HPS.
First, can you confirm the above deductions and do a head to head comparison of the two. Second, where do you see future growth for both, and why. HPS actually looks to have the upper hand due to the "relectrification" theme as their products might attract a larger global audience. Third, can you provide what you feel are good entry points. Thanks for this comparison as there are only funds to buy one.

Q: Over the last 30 years my best investments by far have been with smallish to medium sized profitable businesses with good long term growth prospects that I have bought and held for 10+ years. Generally market caps of roughly $500 million Cdn. to around $5 billion Cdn. A few have generated 20, 30 times my initial cost. I am wondering about the prospects of each of these following companies producing those kind of multi-bagger returns over the next 10 or 20 years. Would you please rank these companies in order from 1 to 13 according to the likelihood that they will become another CSU, BYD, WSP, TFII, etc. that can be a big, big winner for a long term investor: ATS, ATZ, DOO, EQB, GSY, HPS.A, KXS, LMN, NVEI, TIXT, TOI, TSU, WELL. Admittedly, TOI is a little big at $8 billion market cap.
Secondly, are there any other Cdn stocks in this size range that you would say have that kind of big upside potential, and where would you place them in comparison to the above listed companies.

Preformed Line Products Company (PLPC $311.55)
Q: My electrification theme has done remarkably well lately, in fairness I have owned HPS.a for many years, but now what?? They each appear to shifting from value plays to growth plays and while my gut says to take profits my brain says the trend is your friend and hold until growth plateaus. Would appreciate your opinion on the three of them and my favourable dilemma.
Q: The 1st q numbers looked good to me. Please review. The stock price still seems attractive, even with the run up.

Titanium Transportation Group Inc. (TTNM $2.21)
Q: In response to my question on TTNM you said that earnings are expected to decline over the next few years but gave it an OK for a growth oriented TFSA, noting its small size. It seems the trucking industry is expected declining numbers as it this has been stated for TFII as well. Why would one buy a stock in an expected declining industry?
So now am looking at DE ( quite small company )which seems to be growing and is supported by a dividend. I see Bruce Campbell (2) is a director.
Should I take a small ( 1% total portfolio) portion of DE, TTNM, or 50 -50 split, or neither. Any other small caps with developing momentum you suggest ? Thanks. Derek

Q: If you held the following smaller cap stocks in positions of 0.5% to 1.0% of your total stock portfolio, and wanted to reduce the number of holdings by selling several of them and using the money to add to others, which ones would you sell and which ones would you add to: ACQ, ADEN, AEP, AND, CHW, CJ, DCM, ECN, GEO, HPS.A, LNF, NOA, PRL, QIPT, RCH, RET.A, SFC, STLC, SVI, TVE, WELL, XTC. Assume overall portfolio is well diversified so sectors not a consideration, and that this is the riskier part of portfolio, so, higher risk is fine. Would be great if you could pare this list of 22 stocks down to about 10-15. Thanks.
Q: I am considering buying this company which seems to have a lot going for it. I would like your opinion with any negative aspects included.
I would probably hold for several years assuming all goes well.
Look forward to hearing from you Maureen

Q: I,d appreciate your comments on the quarterly results announced today.
Q: The 4th q numbers beat the few estimates by a mile.
I would appreciate your thoughts on valuation and the significance of the search for a successor to Bill Hammond. Is that a prelude to a possible sale or a plan to take the company to a new level?

Q: Hammond Power Solutions just reported. Your thoughts on the quarter? Have your views changed on the company? Please give your opinion on the insider ownership, management and industry. I've more than doubled my money, just looking to see if I should sell and buy later at a cheaper price or just hold long term, what do you think of that strategy? Thank you.

Q: Hello All,
A strategy occasionally mentioned is to consider buying at 52 week highs because it suggests continuing upward momentum .
I am following a few names which keep rising however am loathed to buy at this time because of the possible threat of a market correction.
Would you be willing to suggest any companies that you would almost certainly be buying, into recent highs, despite the looming threat?
Thank you
