Q: is there any Canadian companies involved with rare earth mining that you would reccomend as a buy

Q: Russia's gas cuts are threatening the world's largest Chemicals Hub in Europe. BASF has said it may have to shut down plants if gas supplies fall further. Assuming this raises chemical prices world-wide, are there any public Canadian or US companies that might benefit? Is Methanex one of them?

Q: I was reading an article recommendIng these high yielding closed end funds. They appear to be blue chip. Apparently CEFs usually trade at a discount and once the market is ready to turn around they will provide additional leverage. When does it make sense to purchase CEFs when there are equivalent etfs?

Q: Many months ago, everybody and their brother was predicting interest rate increases, so I sold the bond funds in my RRSP (primarily ZAG) and bought short term bond funds like ZST and XFR. And for some fun /an experiment, I bought some TBF. I try not to time the equity market (as per your sage advice), but I could not resist with bonds (because it seemed like everyone was convinced about the interest rate direction). Good news is that TBF is up 22% YTD; and ZAG is down 13% YTD, but I do not understand why I do not hear anyone promoting TBF as a solution for this rising rate environment. What am I missing? Is there a liquidity risk for sellers when the rates start to flatten out; or is there a significant and quick price plunge risk; or...??? Thanks in advance for your comments.

Technicals seem to be hooking upward and this appears to be an opportunity . Q: I recently opened a cash investment account to begin transferring funds minus withheld taxes from my RSP. For tax reasons stocks with capital gains versus dividends are preferred. What stocks would be advisable at this time given our Portfolio is fairly well balanced re sectors and growth stocks currently in TFSAs and dividend stocks in RSPs. At this time I am specifically interested in Canadian stocks.

Q: Hello, I want to invest in natural gas. If you had to choose either Tourmaline or Topaz today, which one would you invest in? The yield is 1.4% and 5.2% respectively, and my understanding is that Topaz is a more natural gas focus company than Tourmaline. Is it better to hold these companies in a registered account or not? Q: There has been significant turnover at the newly reduced price level so I wondered who was doing the buying and selling, particularly insiders. My impression is that Cielo has had to modify the process and be more selective in the feedstock to achieve the required output quality, but they are making satisfactory progress. Can you confirm this and do you know if insiders have been investing at the new level?

I am interested in Imperial Oil backing EM3 to test their lithium extraction process below the Leduc oil field. If it is successful, it could be a game changer for lithium going forward. Our financial advisor is changing from a non discretionary advisor to a discretionary advisor. We understand that it will allow him to buy and sell securities without our consent allowing for quicker action. Is there any advantage to this type of portfolio. The fee structure will be going up from 1 % to 1.15%.
Is it fair that the fee structure will be going up?

Q: In my non registered account for financials I own BNS, TD, and GSY. With them all down would you top them up or buy CM instead as an additional holding? The focus of the accounts is high quality dividends as I plan to only use the dividends in retirement. I have growth stocks in my TFSA.
