Q: Conventional wisdom seems to be that growth stocks, esp. pricey hi-tech names, are being hit due to fears of interest rate increases. But some of these names don't seem to be directly vulnerable, with low/no debt, strong balance sheets to fund growth without borrowing, and products that wouldn't be especially vulnerable to rate increases for consumers (e.g. retail like shop or lspd). So what am I missing? Could you suggest 2 or 3 growth names that should be relatively safe, or at least bounce back quickly?

Q: hello 5i:
Took some profits at an opportune time in AVGO and PANW. I'd like to stay in the tech space with the proceeds (still have half positions in the 2 sold) and was considering some stocks you like. I left out NVDA as AVGO is in that space. Which do you like best between ADBE and QCOM, assuming they are 2 of your favourites, and why.
thanks
Paul L

Q: Recently, Jim Balsillie has purchased a substantial number of shares and analysts seem to think this stock has some upside. I know you are not big on analyst price forecasts, but certainly seems to have a positive outlook from them. Can I have your take?
Q: Happy New Year - The Globe just featured MDA on an insider buy and many analysts estimating a very large increase in revenues per share over the next year. What do you think about MDA? Good entry price at present or unlikely to hit the revenue forecasts? Many thanks. Al
Q: For UPST, what are the consensus earnings expectations for each of the 4 quarters for 2022?
Also, what are the "interesting new initiatives" you referred to on jan 3 of this year?

Q: Hi Team,
Following the CSU model, if TOI does not issue new shares to finance acquisitions and its cash flow was negative at the end of its 3rd quarter, do they finance acquisitions solely with debt? Thanks

Q: Of the three companies which one has the most growth potential for the next 3 years.
Q: Hello 5i!
So I am a little overweight in technology and feeling the burn a little over the last few months. I am considering re-balancing but am wondering about timing (I know, its impossible! lol)
You have commented that the Q4 is typically good for technology stocks so would you anticipate that they may see positive momentum in the next month or so? I realize you don't have a crystal ball but just based on general market patterns?
Also, what is the general window for Q4 earnings reports? ( end of Jan to end of Feb?)
Lastly, a sincere thanks for all you folks do. Your expertise, education and general good common sense have made a world of difference to the whole 5i community (and their families!).
Wishing you all a healthy and happy 2022.

Q: Hi 5i team.
Looking for at least 3-5 year and likely longer hold on cybersecurity stocks or ETF. Would invest about 2 % of my equity funds in this.
Need high conviction for longer term capital preservation though I am quite OK with volatility. (A lot of tech stocks currently are relatively on sale.)
What would be your top 2 stocks and/or ETF recommendation? What price would you consider buying in at for your top recommendations.
Thank you so much.

Q: Recently held LSPD and watch it fall fall and fall. Wish I had sold some.
Have held shop for several years and am now watching it tumble. Understand both are growth stocks and there is a rotation. Is there a price point that Shop would hit where you think one should sell some. Are my concerns justified or is it a wait and be patient and it will return to 2000.00. Realize you do not have a crystal ball but need your advice.

Q: Hello,
I’ve always wondered why certain companies let their share price run into the thousands and rarely if ever split their shares. For a small retail investor like myself paying 2000- $3000 USD for an Amazon or Alphabet is simply not possible. I’ve always suspected it may be a philosophy of management and or founders who all still have significant influence in the mentioned companies.

Q: Hello great folks:
Any idea why TIXT is so weak here? Is it lumped in with the "high valuation" growth companies, or is it expected to suffer with higher rates?
Bonus question: Gold seems to correlate the best with real rates. If rates move up this year and is successful in moving inflation down, this would seem to be a double whammy against gold. Would you expect gold, and by extension mining stocks, to have a tough year under this scenario?

Q: With the recent shift from growth to value I was hoping to add a bit of Canadian Tech with XIT, instead of picking away at CSU, GIB.A etc individually, as these are all held within the fund. Can you let me know your thoughts on this or a proxy to XIT? XIT seems quite expensive with Management Fee's 0.55% and Management Expense Ratio (MER) 0.61%
Q: What do you see as potential growth prospects for this company? I’m considering selling my shares in it, in favour of a business with greater growth potential longterm. Thank you.
Q: Hi 5i,
Has anything material changed your view of this company? It has smashed through its 52 wk low, and if still a good story then I'll stay put. Do know when it will be profitable?
Thx.

Q: Please provide your current comments on whether these two companies are good investments at this time. What is their potential for growth and what risks do they face in an inflationary environment?
Thank you and a happy new year to all at 5i
