Q: Hello, what would happen to CAN shares when this company moves to the US?
Q: My question is on energy as I do not hold anything in this space. I have been looking at this company for awhile producing a high yield that the company says it will not cut. From what I understand this is holding the stock price as fears of a dividend cut. yet on the other side it is said if the dividend was cut it would probably help the stock price. My question if the stock is purchased you get the dividend and if the dividend is cut the stock price would most probably increase. any comments on this thesis.
thanks Dave
thanks Dave
Q: Hi 5i Team:
Happy New Year!
I am thinking to put my hi interest saving money to either ENB and or ALA. I know the principal may go up/down, but if it goes down at least I can use my cap loss to offset gains. Which of these two you would recommend for a long term hold just to earn the dividend? I already own these two stocks and my holdings are well diversify. Or, what would you recommend besides ENB and ALA.
Thank you.

Q: There appears to be a settlement of some sort indicating a payout to the lenders only. Is there also some value for the common share holders?
Q: Do you think AQN lost an investor or gained an investor based on yesterday’s trading

Q: How do you view the above companies to boost yield, energy weighting and opportunity for capital gain. My objective is to minimize total equity exposure while achieving a targeted yield by seeking out more potent dividend names with good upside potential. Thanks.

Q: Hi, I currently hold ENB (0.53%), PPL (1.03%), TOU (0.48%), and WCP (0.37%), total of 2.42% of my portfolio. I actually have ENB in my utility sector weighting, which would make my overall energy even lower. Would you consider it 50/50 energy/utility??
I'm looking at slightly increasing my sector weight in energy to maybe 4-5% since its so low (mostly because my current holdings have gone down or I've sold previous energy positions). Energy companies in Canada have been hit so badly its hard to put money back into the sector right now. I know you hold MCR in your portfolio and you like PXT and SU. Based on the current valuations/fundamentals and future potential, should I add to any of my current positions, sell them, or add PXT or SU to the mix?? How would you suggest consolidating these?
Thanks!

Q: Cve announced today that they are planning to reduce carbon emissions. Is QST the only company that can benefit from this trend or is there more names? Thanks

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and Team,
I manage my son's TFSA, and it's quite well diversified, except for zero exposure in energy. For this year's contribution, I'm considering one of ENB, IPL, TRP, or PKI. I realize that PKI is in a different sub-sector, but am leaning towards it, and would appreciate your insight. We favour dividend payers, even if it's a small dividend. Thanks as always.

Q: Hello Peter, a 'Market Call' guest whom I've learned to listen to closely over many years (you are the other; hence my 5i membership) recommended Imperial Oil in that sector, largely because he perceived its downside risk to be minimal due to its current price relative to book value. I have a large position in CNQ and a smaller one in Tourmaline. But I'd like to add to my O&G holdings with a stock with a 'lowish' downside. Would you concur with the IMO recommendation for this purpose, or would you suggest I just add to the CNQ and/or Tourmaline. Thank you!
Q: Could I have your comments on Athabasca Oil's press release late yesterday with their Operational Update and 2020 budget. What is the life of their reserves? I am correct in interpreting from the release that for every US$5 increase in WTI above US$45 WTI (considering a $17.50 WCS differential) the company stands to benefit CDN$70 million? At $0.53 this morning is this company worth taking a risk. Thanks
Q: I am a 73 year old retiree and am thinking about adding WCP or TOG to my TFSA or RIF. Which company would you lean towards and into which fund. I am light on energy.
