Q: Hello 5i
I am starting to move from a strong growth approach to a defensive position. I still want growth but a little less risk. I have a more less balanced portfolio and am in my mid seventies. I don’t need the cash and want to avoid dividends. Capital gains instead. I am thinking about increasing my holdings in the stocks mentioned above. What i am trying to figure out is what percentage of total port can I go up to with these. I already hold about 5 % of each. I keep thinking of your recommendation of holding only 5% in each stock. I would like to have more in these stocks for safety reasons. But, is it a good idea to do so? And up to what levels
Thanks as always for your excellent service
I asked a question earlier about percentages of a portfolio some big, stable companies could take. I neglected to add csu to the list. Possible to add it in ? Also, implicid in the previous question, if not clearly stated, is the question of what happens to the percentages of all the other companies, if these take 10 or more percent each?

Q: Hello,
I am thinking of investing in the rare earths segment. If i had to invest, would you suggest half and half or is Neo better than MP? Also, do you think i have missed the boat on investing in this area ? With regards to quantum computing, is IONQ considered one of the better companies to invest in? My concern is NVDA could get into this space as well. Thanks very much

Q: good afternoon - I have positions in both AMZN and GOOG, with modest gains in GOOG and good gains in AMZN. I'm looking at the respective P/E's and wondering if this is a good time to sell AMZN and increase GOOG. Taxes not an issue for two thirds of my AMZN. Do you think that GOOG will increase in value at a greater rate than AMZN in the coming years? I like both companies but this looks like an opportunity to high grade a portion of my portfolio. Thanks. Al

Many thanks

Q: Could you please explain the inter-relationship between these two stocks? I realize one is incorporated etc but I am interested in their holdings, especially because 1. BEPC is outperforming and 2. There are large US contracts that are shaping their business. It was my understanding that each had their own different contracts but they were essentially the same company at a high level. Are they impacted differently by their contracts with Google and Microsoft or will they both benefit equally? Are their operational strategies any different?
Thanks.

Q: I loved this recent question from Giovanni, big kudos to him and his son for taking the fantastic suggestions from 5i, and GIANT HIGH 5 to 5i team!
So to ask the same question today, my 30ish daughter has about 45k cash in TFSA. Also has some NTDOY, DIS ZQQ and ZEB. Ok with ETFs but I don't think there is as good a chance for towering home runs like NVDA.
Let's grow!

Q: I feel like I ask this question every few months, and suspect that it is a hard one to know with confidence- but here goes. The Trade Desk- it bounces up and down, recently with a drop over 50%. Does this look like a reliable bet going forward? Do you trust its momentum to continue near term? Is there an alternative you would recommend?

Thank you.

Q: I currently hold half positions in GOOG and AMZN, and both positions show current gains. I also have a full position in GLBE, which is currently underwater. I'd like to consolidate and wonder what to sell and why. Long term hold and taxes not really a consideration. Many thanks

Q: My daughter's portfolio consists of the above stocks (CSU, ENB ,IFC, ISRG, SIS, SHOP, WSP, ZSP). She likes to hold good stocks for along time. She Is comfortable with moderate risk and has a long runway for investment. She has money to invest and would like to add stocks which would improve the balance of her portfolio. Could you suggest a few stocks to help her achieve her goal. She is not adverse to owning 1 or 2 higher risk growth stocks. Thank you for your help.

Q: Many thanks for your detailed response to my recent question on Google - "https://www.5iresearch.ca/questions/186348". Is it fair to assume that with 50+% of their revenue and possibly more of their EPS (due to higher margin within this vertical) that the stock price is fairly priced and that any future potential increases in stock prices will potentially require new product lines, ... As you stated, their vision is not clear. And until then, is it fair to assume that their stock price, from a P/E perspective, is lower than other Mag7 companies due to this caveat. Having said all of this, investors make (or lose) money when times are unclear and stock prices are deflated. What are your thoughts re the future of this company and what drives your investment thesis? Thanks.

Q: What are your thoughts about zero-click search and its eventual impact to Google's bottom line. Personally, I was a HUGE, HUGE user of Google search for more than a decade; however, for the last 12-24 months I (and my spouse) have stopped using it all together, preferring chatbots such as MS-Copilot, ChatGPT and Perplexity. And more recently, I hear that some of the companies that are building these LLM's will also introduce their own browsers. Looking at Google's revenue split by segment, "search" represents 50-60% of their total revenue (albeit less and less every year) but it is still 50-60% of Google's revenue. Any impact to this product line for Google, could have major implications to their revenue stream/bottom line - especially if others abandon Google as I have. You are very bullish on Google, it is trading at lower multiples compared to other Mag7 stocks and am considering an investment. What are your thoughts 3-5-10 years down the road, considering a potential impact on their key revenue stream and/or any other potential risks/benefits you envision. Thank You!
