Q: Hi Team,
I was looking to add funds to one of the following 3 names: Bn, ATZ, or ATS. If had to choose which name would be the best buy today? My intention is to buy and hold long term.

Separately, what's your take on recent market negativity? Things seem to be escalating to the down side with Powell continuing to have his rosey goggles on continuing to raise rates as banks continue to fail, literally during his bumbling speech telling the world how solid US banks are? I know my confidence in the guy has dwindled as of late. Perhaps now is not a good time to buy and I should wait a bit with any new purchases? Opinion? Thanks

Shane.

Q: One source describes RBC and TD banks as having wide-moats; BNS and CM banks it describes as having narrow-moats.

Do you agree?

Is this something that someone who has a concentrated portfolio should especially heed?

All the best!

R

By the way, I really appreciate all 5i/Cdn $ Svr does. Thank you!

Q: I have a few questions about money market ETFs and high interest savings ETFs. Can you suggest one or two MM ETFs or HIS ETFs? Additionally, do they have monthly interest distributions and experience daily price changes? Do these distributions count as taxable interest? Are they available for purchase without charges and do they have management expenses (MERs)? Lastly, are these ETFs tradeable daily with high liquidity?

Q: I would like to improve my buying and selling stocks. To do this, I understand that one factor could be referring to the Relative Strength Index (RSI). What has your experience been like in referring to the RSI for selling when over 70 and buying when under 30? In other words, how much weight should I put on RSI for buying/selling stocks?.......Thanks for your insights...Tom

Q: During the early weeks of the pandemic (March 2020), my portfolio results - namely Canadian holdings - experienced 3 days in a row of my worst stock market performances EVER. These worst ever performances were approximately 3 times as BAD dollar wise as my BEST ever daily performances. I do understand the immense irrationality of those times, however is this excessive variance in performance a semi normal occurrence where your worst performing days are multiples of your best performing days? For reference purposes please consider that my largest holdings were and are BCE, T, TD, WSP, CSU, ENB, AP.UN, ATD, GIB.A, XBC, and IPL.UN(at that time).

Thank you for your response,

Dean

Q: Shopify's decision to sell it's distribution business has been well-received. However, the reasons for this divestiture -- complexity and distraction, as well as cost were entirely foreseeable before this initiative started. And the reasons for getting into distribution are not being mentioned in corporate explanations of the change. Have they just gone away? Does this change point to governance issues, such as the unusual independence of the CEO due to the share structure?

Q: Hello, Thank you and Kudos to 5i team for your unfaltering view on Shopify, and even bumping up the weight in the Balanced portfolio recently. Your unbiased and consistent opinion has been a huge support to us for maintaining a long term view on this company, while there has been so much pessimism and negativity in the market. We are very happy with market rewarding the stock last week and I am sure, there is a lot more to come over next several years.

Q: Do these 4 companies have the cash/cash flow to finance their current debt obligations? None of the companies are profitable I am concerned that they may not be able to raise the cash needed to fund operations in the current environment of rising interest rates, such that they may not be able to handle any debt due over the next year or two.

Q: I’m significantly underwater on these stocks. Can you please advise which ones you’d hold, and which ones you’d sell? Can you please also give 5 growth stocks in Canada and 5 in the US that you are high on right now in place of the above?
