Q: I hold TOI in a non-registered account. Is TOI considered a foreign company that would need to be reported on the T1135 tax filing form? I believe it is Netherlands based, but trades on the TSXV. Based on the fact that it is domiciled in Europe therefore it would need to be reported on the T1135 form. Please confirm.
Q: Happy holidays to everyone at 5i.
Cineplex has reached 1.24 billon deal with Cineworld. Even with yesterday's increase in SP, CGX is still trading at significantly lower market cap @ 800+ million. It looks like many investors do not believe CGX would actually get that money. What is your take?
Q: What would you expect the 2022 increase in interest rates to be in the US now that the FED is signalling (Bloomberg) it's ready to begin to raise them?
If you were sitting on EUR cash, would this signal a readiness to buy USD? If yes, what news would you look for to know when to buy the USD?
I realize you aren't forex dealers but any insights would be useful.
Thanks a lot.
Q: You probably have a lot of people who are shareholders spooked by the recent drop in TOI. I know you've all mentioned that TOI is for the long term and have also recommended it at the highs and also in the recent dip -- but it's also true that it's "losing momentum" even if it is a little bit. At what point should we be concerned that this is a prolonged resetting of the market expectations?
I am down about 60% on NVEI which I hold in a non-registered account. Would it make sense to sell for tax loss purposes? If yes, what stock would you suggest I invest the sale proceeds in, in the event there is a bounce in the market in January? I have a 3-5 year time horizon.
Q: What a dilemma. Apple is the best performing stock in what is supposed to be a relatively safe and balanced RRSP portfolio. But it has grown to represent 20% of the portfolio. I feel I have to sell a good chunk of this high performance stock in order to correct the balance. Can you suggest what I could buy to replace the shares of Apple I sell?
Q: I have learned that Sun Life has lost its contract to provide health insurance coverage to the Federal Government (it is being replaced by Canada Life Assurance a subsidiary of Great-West). Do you think this will be material to Sun Life stock price?
Q: I was wondering if 5i would see a benefit from helping establish regional diy investment groups. I have had on my to-do list to get a face to face investment group going in Ottawa. Meeting other 5i members in Ottawa would be of value. Your forums don't really get enough traffic for me to post there....
Q: MKKGY What can you tell me about this company?
Is it related to MRK and, if so, why is the performance so much better.
Most importantly, would you invest in this company?
Q: I do not have any positions in the Industrial sector and would like to initiate a purchase of a solid "Core Holding" security. Could you provide me with a US and Canadian selection for consideration. Looking for a solid performer with good fundamentals. Thanks
Q: Hi Peter & 5i,
Wishing you and the staff a joyous holiday season!
Would you see any red flags in this portfolio for a conservative investor needing the dividends for cash flow. The portfolio would be 50% equities and 50% fixed income - 5 year laddered GIC's.

Q: Hi 5i,
I’m in the process of rebalancing my RRSP and TFSA and looking to be greedy while others are fearful.
Specifically moving TD, FTS, T, and LNF to an RRSP so that my TFSA can be growth oriented.
My remaining TFSA positions would be as follows:
- Half Positions: NVEI, EGLX, LSPD, WELL, U, APPS, BAM.A, SIS, DND, BYD, MITK
- Full Positions: GSY, TOI, CRWD, ATZ
I am planning to deploy as follows:
- Complete existing positions: NVEI, LSPD, APPS, U
- New Partial Positions: AT, XYL
- New Full Positions: DOL, SHOP, VEEV, ANRG, ATD, TIXT
Would you swap out anything on this list that would better compliment my existing positions? I have a 10+ year horizon so I’m leaning towards aggressiveness.
