Q: All these are oversold as of this week. For a long term investor, are any of these good to buy today?

Q: I currently have TOY at 1.6% weight. It was higher but with the recent decline in price this had made my weight lower. Would you be comfortable buying this stock for the long term for at least 3 years or wait to see how the next 2 quarters are? I am thinking of buying to increase it to 2.6% weight.

Q: My question revolves around Peter's webinar and the thought we should know when to sell our losers. I bought the above just before the decline last year. All outpaced (negatively)the market decline considerably. During the recent market rally 2 have not participated with the market, the others have basically market performed. Leaving the value at this point -23%. There have been some misses in the last reports for these companies. As an investor what am I looking for now to continue to hold these positions or be a seller.

Q: PBH, NFI, KXS, TSGI, GC, BNS, SIS, CCL and now TOY. Not good. It feels like, for some time now, a lot of risk but not the commensurate reward. Please comment.

Q: This is a question that could apply to the above companies based on recent results but many others throughout a year. When a company you guys like misses earnings but has a reasonable explanation and the release/conf call doesn't turn up anything wild to be concerned about does it ever not make sense to buy or top up when the market overreacts? GC yesterday was another great example. Your thoughts please on when you would and would not be active buyers following a miss by a company you consider to be of high quality.

Q: Currently have both these companies in an unregistered account. I’m at break even on Toy and down 25% on NFI.

I’d like to purchase one for my TFSA and sell it from the other account. Which one do you like for growth based on current valuations?

Q: I own all of the above in roughly equal weights in my TFSA. I am attempting to replicate your Balanced Equity Portfolio. I am also trying to get more defensive. I think I am overweight in the Info Tech sector. I am looking at a 5 year hold. I have cash to buy another position. What would your advice be - hold the cash or make a purchase. If purchase what would be your recommendation for defensive position?

Q: My wife and I are 66 years old. We each have a TFSA which we are trying to maximize. These would be the last two accounts we would ever take money out of. Our children are the beneficiaries so these are long term accounts - hopefully! We each have RRSPs and share a non-registered account we use for income. We don't have any fixed income but do have enough cash to last us 3 years. No pensions, but are quite diversified in a number of blue chip stocks.

Between the two of us we have PHO, SIS, TOY, BNS, TSGI. None of which has been very good lately but we are patient. We have enough money for two more positions, and think it would be prudent to add two, more stable, names. OTEX, BOYD, GC ? Suggestions?

Q: Hello 5iR Team, Many brokerage houses have developed the portfolio structure of identifying a short list of their "Highest Conviction" stock picks. Then they separate them from all of their other "BUY" rated stocks and/or stocks they have selected to put in a portfolio.
Yes, I know you have your three model portfolios but choosing a few stocks from these portfolios or something different forces everyone to concentrate and co-operate to develop the ultimate 5iR focus list.
Is this a concept the 5iR team has considered?
Would it be possible to ask at this time can the team give me what 5iR thinks are its' Highest Conviction ideas for 2019? Thanks Team. Cheers, Chris

Q: I currently hold toy in an unregistered account and am down slightly. I would like to move it into my TFSA. What would you recommend?

1. Buy in the TFSA first and wait 30 days
2. Sell in the unregistered account and wait 30 days to buy in the TFSA
3. Or transfer into the TFSA and forego the tax loss
4. Wait for Toy to reach cost and then transfer into TFSA
