Q: Followup to earlier question on ZDY.U. I respectfully disagree with the answer. Since ZDY.U is a Canadian ETF, the ETF automatically withholds foreign taxes, so it doesn't matter where an individual investor happens to hold this. In order to take advantage of the RRSP in this manner, one has to use a US-based ETF, like VIG, that does not automatically withhold foreign taxes. This sort of question gets asked a lot in your Q/A, so I think it's very important that this is clarified. Thank you.

Q: Hi there, I recently watched an episode of Market Call and I believe Bruce Campbell from Campbell Lee and Ross said he has a position and it was more interesting than growers from the oil perspective. Would you agree and would you be comfortable taking a small position in this name? What about in comparison to another company that is somewhat related to the space such was Enwave? Thank you!

Q: would you consider a position small ..say 1/2 position in VIX S+P 500 index as a decent way to protect our portfolios from a market downdraft from its present all time highs? I;m assuming the market will be lower than current levels at some point in the 6 months and that geo political issues may arise during same period.

Q: WCP has a price to cash flow of 3.5, meaning a cash flow of about 1.20/y , but latest earnings are 0.06 and pays a div of 0.34/y (8%), since the dividend is higher than the earnings, from which funds is the company paying the dividend ?, is it sustainable ?, I like the cash flow, and the dividend , but are not dividends paid from earnings normally ?

Q: Please clarify which kinds of securities should be held in non-registered accounts vs RRIFs and TFSAs. I have held yield-assets in our RRIFs and capital assets in our TFSAs and personal accounts, preferring to pay capital gains taxes on appreciation in personal accounts than paying full rates on capital appreciation upon withdrawals from RRIFs. What is your advice and are there exceptions?

Q: For years economists had referred to the Canadian dollar as the "petro dollar" in that our dollar fluctuated with oil prices. With plans by our government to phase out the Canadian oil sector (e.g. Bill C-69 & other policies) what impact will this have on our dollar in the future?

Also, President Trump wants a lower U.S. dollar. How do you think he will achieve this? And what impact might this have on our Canadian dollar and on our exports?

I had converted much of my investments to U.S. accounts when the Canadian dollar was closer to par with the U.S. dollar (& oil prices were high) and am now deciding if changes to my portfolios are warranted,

Q: I am trying to figure out my sector distribution. I think that some stocks could be classified in a couple sectors. Could you please let me know what percentage of the following would you allocate to different sectors? For example, would you consider L to be 90% Cons Staples and 10% Healthcare?

CTC.A Cons Staples:Cons Discret
ENB Energy:Utilities
TRP Energy:Utilities
SIS Industrial:Healthcare
