Q: On July 12 in response to a question regarding Co. it was stated EPS consensus calls for at least a 25% increase and that PE of 17 is still below 10 yr. average. With a substantial move lower, which I assume is on no news, can these shares be bought? Also, can you confirm the move down is on no news please? Is the move down possibly due to a move away from defensive staples? Thank you.

Q: Hello, and thank you for an informative service. In theory, what are your views on adding to a so-called expensive/highly valued stock when your original cost basis is quite low? For example, I keep reading how Dollarama is at a high premium right now. I have a lot of it, and my original cost basis is about $97. Even adding a couple thousand dollars would keep it at something like $97.50. as a general rule or idea, is it worth building on positions like this? Also, I don't know if this would be considered a second question, but if you could rank the five stocks in order to purchase today keeping in mind my original question, that would be much appreciated. Thank you again.

Q: I am wondering how often your members look at the posts in the forums section. There are a small number of us that post there fairly regularly, and I have been hoping that regular posts there would encourage more people to join in. Hasn't happened. How difficult would it be to put in a "views" feature on posts there, so that we could see how often people were even seeing the info being posted there. There is valuable stuff there - I have made over $100,000 based on stocks mentioned by others there, and the stock picks I made at the start of the year were up about 33% on average when I did a review a few weeks ago, but if people aren't using it, maybe the few of us are just having a small private conversation.
Q: Hi,
If you were to create a mini model portfolio of an FHSA with a 5-year timeline and low-risk tolerance. What would your holdings look like? (stocks & allocation %)

Q: Just curious if there is a sector that dependably moves the opposite direction to Materials? Specifically I am thinking of Nutrien, and wondering if you can identify any companies that could be expected to move inversely to their Nutrien’s share price? Having ridden them up and back down, if I am going to keep owning the company I think I would intend to trade it in the future on the next upswing if I had an “anti-Nutrien” to switch into. Thanks for your thoughts.
Q: I am Heading south for the winter end of Oct. Looking into your crystal ball do you think the Canadian dollar will continue to rise?

Q: Hello Team,
Are you able to rank the 12 companies listed from 1 to 12 in terms of capital appreciation over the next 2-3 years. I currently hold all of the mentioned stocks but do have some cash to deploy. Thanks.

Q: I hold a position in this company and am down in excess of 50%. Would you recommend moving on here before tax loss selling takes hold? Or do you think the share price has already been impacted by tax loss selling. Do you see a near term catalyst which could support a share price rally? There as not been a query on this company in several months; please go over most recent quarterly and annual results. Thank you.
Q: What is the best way to reduce the max drawdown in a long term growth investment portfolio that has increased a lot in value over the years? What are some strategies or things for investors to be cognizant of or do over time?
My investment strategy is to buy high quality compounders and hold them a long time. My top sectors by weight are tech, financials, industrials and cons. cyclical. My bottom ones are utilities, materials and communications with energy and staples in the middle.
It always seems like my portfolio takes the stairs up and the elevator down. I'm happy with the returns so far and hold high quality growth names. Are there strategies to reduce the downside while enjoying the max upside? : ) Such as raising cash or hedging (PSQ, SH) at certain times, although this is market timing which I tend to try to avoid. Your thoughts? Thank you!

Q: Hello 5i team,
Welcome your feedback on PKI vs. CNQ and ATD moving forward? I've held PKI on and off for 11 years. I'm sitting with a 9.4% per annum total return and a 25% cap gain on cost. Plenty of drama between hostile shareholders and board. Shares appear dramatically undervalued. When comparing to CNQ and ATD (also holding) I'm considering abandoning PKI and investing proceeds into more CNQ and ATD. Pay the tax and move on reluctantly... Can you share your thoughts on this notional transaction vs. holding on to PKI while still quite "undervalued" to wait/see how the drama plays out or just move on? Thanks for your opinion and all you do.

Q: I originally submitted this question back on Sept 17 but never received a response so I'll try again. I was wondering if you could provide some investment ideas/suggestions for ongoing contributions to a FHSA, as contribution room becomes available each year. Looking for "reasonable" growth without "excessive" risk over the 15 years of the plan. I am thinking of investing 50% of the yearly $8000 allowable contribution to a CAD-denominated S&P500 ETF and wondered which one you would suggest? Or, would you recommend something else? What is your opinion of XQLT - the iShares MSCI USA Quality Factor Index ETF as compared to an S&P500 ETF? For the other 50% of the yearly contributions I was wondering which two TSX stocks and which two CDR's you would suggest for annual contributions until the $40k plan maximum is achieved in 5 years? Thanks.

Q: Admittedly, I am not a patient investor. I am disenchanted with Boyd and have to believe that either or all of the other equities mentioned above (which I am not fully invested in) should be a better investment for the medium/long term. Could you please comment on this and suggest the equities, in order of growth expectation, I could replace Boyd with.
Thanks,
