Q: Do you recommend holding Enerplus until the close of the deal ? Are there restrictions on ERF insiders and employees on selling their CHRD shares as soon as the deal closes ? If I do not stick with CHRD, I would like to keep these funds in O&G. What are your favorites in this sector. I own WCP, CPG, TOU and the pipelines. ERF is currently held in a TFSA. Thanks.

Q: Hello 5i, I own Enerplus but do not want the CHRD shares there is a special dividend to be paid payable to shareholders of record at the close of business on May 30, 2024 . The ex-dividend date for this payment will be May 30, 2024 . The Special Dividend is intended to equalize the amount of quarterly. The transaction of the takeover is I think May 31/24. Would I be able to sell my shares May 30/24 and still qualify for the special dividend?
Q: "I'm considering lightening up on my energy (oil) holdings and transitioning to some core renewable energy names as it seems to me these companies have a bright future and are currently "out of favour". I'm having trouble determining which renewable energy companies are valued best that also have the best growth prospects. Which names does 5I believe are "best in class" renewable energy companies currently trading at fair multiples with good growth prospects".
Q: How do stock splits work if you own the stock as a CDR? For example, the upcoming NVDA stock split. Thanks
Q: The US Department of Justice is set to announce a lawsuit against Live Nation, will this have a major impact on the company? Is LYV a good long term holding or could one move on to better opportunities?
Q: Hello, In a previous answer, you say that Nvidia announced a 150% dividend boost and a 10-to-1 stock split. On which calendar date will this take effect? Thank you
Q: Thank you for your comments this morning on NVDA results from yesterday. Could you comment on starting a position at today's current levels? Would you recommend a half position to start or have enough conviction to start a full position. I know people can be nervous to start a position at new all time high's but also know this is something that does not necessarily deter 5i. Thanks so much!
Q: What is your opinion about open-ended vs. closed-ended REIT's? AP.UN became open-ended last year, and I'm wondering if this might change the potential for unit value or distribution level improvements.
Q: Hi, Propel stock chart looks horrible and stock can't seem to find support. Stock is now down 25% after the earnings release ( $29.89 to $22.40), after a strong quarter.
Mr Jason Donville commented in a recent interview that they were buying the stock at $6-$7 level, last year and they have been sellers for past few months, as stock has become expensive. This could also be true with many other early investors.
Propel has a market cap of $750 mln and is still relatively small cap. Do you believe that its multiple could grow, despite its size/sector risks and stock could trade higher ?
What is your advice for an investor who bought in at $22-$25 level ?
Thank You

Q: Hello 5i,
How does higher for longer interest rates affect Propel? Is this reason it declined over 6 percent yesterday. Thank you for your response.

Q: It seems that the telco sector will faced with challenges for the foreseeable future with price pressures on fees (I see it on my own bills) and likely not being able to recover for quite sometime. It was easier to sell the position on the non registered account and take advantage of the tax loss. I have kept my positions in the registered accounts for the dividend but am now wondering if perhaps a sell would be make sense and what to replace them with. Any ideas with some dividend and a little bit of growth?
Much appreciated.

Q: I did really well buying oil stocks when oil tanked 4 years ago, and holding during the recovery. What beaten up sector do you feel has great recovery potential like this currently? Would REIT's qualify since rate cuts appear to be coming soon, or are you not as confident in the recovery due to vacancy's & recession possibility? Thx
Q: Peter,
In the recent ETF newsletter it mentions the numerator in the Free cash flow calculation is arrived at by subtracting operations cash flow from its capital expenditures. I don't believe this is correct. Should it not be subtract capital expenditures from total cash flow?
Thanks
Paul
