Q: I own 245 shares of REF.UN that I have held in a brokerage account for some time. They recommend that I sell for $50.00 now, and they would only charge 1/2 the commission. I understand that if the deal goes through I can take the option to sell at $53.75 with no charges. In your expert opinion, what are the chances of the deal falling through? If this happens the shares would likely fall back to the $42.00 range.
I do not want the CHP.UN shares, but I would like to sell all of the REF.UN shares.
I am wondering if the broker just wants her commission. PLease give me your expert opinion. Sell now or wait?

Q: Hi,
I had PLI in my TFSA as of yesterday. I sold it at an 80% loss. Is there any one good growth company that I can replace it with that would regain my losses? It's the only stock in my TFSA and it's a small position.
Thanks

Q: I understand that there are concerns about the Corus business model, going forward. However, its current price (around $5.80) seems extremely low considering its P/E and its dividend, even assuming a reduction in the dividend. Is it currently undervalued and worth a shot now or would it be wiser to wait until after the quarterly on April 5 to see if it's really in the tank? Essentially, do you think it truly is only a six dollar company or maybe not even that?
Thanks!

Q: A few questions if I may:

1. I gather that Preferreds are becoming increasingly rare and that they are concentrated in financial stocks. Is that also true in the U.S.?
2. Is there a site that lists or focuses on Canadian Preferred shares, or similar in the U.S.?
3. In a gradually increasing interest rate environment I assume it then follows that Preferred share prices would be under downward pressure?

Thank you!
