Q: Hi Guys,
As a sad and angry holder of a lot of valueless PGF stock, I read where if you sell your stock for .05 cents you may also get the possibility of a contingent value payment if litigation goes the company’s way. Does that apply to shareholders and what if I don't sell and the deal does or doesn't go through.
Why is Seymour Schulich not saying anything? Rumour is he's getting a better deal than the rest of the shareholders.

Thanks,
Charlie

Q: If you had a vote on the PGF deal what would it be....in support of the deal or against and main reason why please.

My general impression is:
1. The shareholders get hung out to dry
2. The debt holders get made whole and dont take any type of haircut

Bankruptcy was looming but if anything that should have given them leverage with the debt holders. If nobody is buying assets the receiver wouldn't have any buyers either. Even if I wasn't holding a few thousand shares I would find this deal to be questionable.

Q: The sad state of the Canadian fosil energy sector has me torn between cutting my loses and moving on ( too late for PGF....) or doubling down on a few names when things are in the dumps.... With the exception of Suncor ( dont need more and happy with it so wont sell), what do I do with my current energy holdings. Thanks to the poor recent performance they are down to about 10% of my total holdings. Dump, hold, add, or double down on these names please.

Q: Hi Guys,
Pengrowth Energy -
1. Announced Strategic Review
2. Lenders extended credit to Sept 2019
3. Seymour Schulich still accumulating shares as of March 2019 (most at higher prices than current and now owns ~30% of the company)
4. Rising oil prices over the last couple months.

Can I get your thoughts on all of the above?

It seems many have come to the conclusion that bankruptcy is in the future, however, I have my doubts as I would think Mr. Schulich would be well aware of these chances and would not have continued accumulating shares.. Also, could the recent uptick in oil prices be the saving grace for this company?

Please deduct as many credits as necessary to answer.
Cheers,
Dean

Q: I'm looking to reduce exposure to the energy sector and harvest some tax losses. My holdings cover a range of energy companies with different strengths and weaknesses (gassy, oily, big cap, small cap) so equivalence is difficult to calculate. From the list of CVE, HSE, PGF, SGY, TOU and WCP in what order would you reduce these holdings?

As always, thanks for the excellent service.

After being almost totally out of energy, I am thinking of getting back and looking for companies with torc to the upside.
Would you please compare TCW and TDG.
Also which would you prefer, PGF or BIR
Also a comment on SPE would be appreciated.
There are at least questions here and five companies. Please deduct 3 or 5 credits.

Q: Hi Peter,
I own the etf as well as some of the individual companies such as Canopy Growth, Medreleaf, etc My total weight is 5% (i.e. 1 percent in Canopy etc). I have done well in the short term . These stocks do not have much earnings but are going up on potential. What would you suggest? Take the profits or just sell half for now and put a stop loss on the remaining balance. Also, with oil and gas stocks, is it best to hold on for higher oil prices or simply sell and move on as it has been a while since the oil price has gone up. Thanks very much.

Q: Good Afternoon
I am getting ready to take some capital losses as gains offsets. I will not need to realize all of the above; but in what order should I use them and if I sell would you buy any of them back? The $ losses are about equal in all cases.

Thanks and enjoy the heat

Q: I bought PGF and BTE on a big dip in April and neglected to sell on the multiple dips after that..... The recent rally has me back to a less painful loss. What the hell is causing this rally? I will likely sell once this level off but the fundamentals just don't seem to support the influx of money into these highly leveraged companies. I had written it off as dead money for the next few years and lesson learned ( again) to sell when you call momentum wrong. Not an analyst on the planet has oil going up to numbers that BTE and PGF need to cover their dept let alone make a profit in the next 12-18 months. So I guess my question is what is driving this rally in highly leverage energy stocks.

Q: Hi Peter,
Since Covalan Technologies is a small cap, i was thinking of trading it, but it could turn out to be a long term play. With the recent news, the stock jumped to $4.60 but has been going back and forth between 3.90 and 4.60. My average cost is 3.30. In this cases, should one simply trade it or simply hang on for more profits later given the good news release. Any idea why Pengrowth is surging over the last two days. I am not seeing any recent news and if you are able to access the recent releases, can you suggest a link please? Finally, i am thinking of boosting my GUD and BIP.UN to 5% weights which is my max per stock. Any comments. Thanks very much.
