Q: In my RRSP account - I am looking to add 1 more company to the above list. I am somewhat of a conservative growth investor - would like something that will increase over time yet paying respect to risk. I am looking at BIP.UN or SLF - can you provide your opinion and maybe suggest others that you feel might "fit" ? Your opinion is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Q: Hi,
BEP has taken off recently and despite the market's rush to safety and dividend paying stocks, I can't rationalize the quick increase. From my charting work, the current price is as high as it'll go in the near term unless it has some new sources of growth (i.e. acquisitions). I'll also note that its upward move comes with increasing volume, however in the past 2 weeks both price and volume have stagnated (which supports my thesis and chart that this has topped).
AQN, looks better at the moment - similar dividend as BEP, but with more growth potential.
For me, all points lead to selling BEP and looking to buy back in later or initiate in AQN. Can you convince me otherwise?
Cam.

Q: Wondering about where to contribute and add to next . I have a TFSA and RSP self directed ( no unreg'd trading accounts )
Started investing in the TFSA 1st so my RSP is far behind it in $ levels . Now that I have contribution room , plus more on Jan 1 should i go with ..
Topping up EMA in my RSP , would be heaviest weighting if so with TD on top right now .
Topping up RY , NFI , MFC or NPI ( all being medium weight with TD and AQN on top )
Or adding BEP or SRU as new holding to either TFSA or RSP , leaning towards BEP myself .
Thanks

Q: I currently hold the above 3 utilities in equal weights in a well diversified portfolio and am considering adding Fortis or Emera. I'm looking for safety, dividends, and some growth. I would prefer to keep the count down to 3 stocks so could you please rank them for me?
Thanks

Thanks for the great work

Q: I own AQN on the tsx in my Canadian non-registered account That account also has a US dollar account. Am I able to move the stock to the US side and should I do so? Would I not save exchange fees charged by iTrade on the receipt of each dividend? Any other advantages? Any disadvantages? Thank you, Bill
Q: Hello,
was wondering what are the earnings, revenue estimates for the upcoming quarterly release. What is the recent history in meeting the estimates?
I am a holder of the shares and was wondering what % of a weighting for a more conservative investor would be appropriate. Currently I am at 4%.
Thanks,
Dan

Q: I hold the above stocks in my TFSA. Since they pay dividends in USD I plan to journal these holdings to the USD side of my TFSA. Is there any risk that it could be deemed an over contribution by the CRA? I hear of cases where transferring TFSA assets from one account to another causes this over-contribution.
Q: I saw this news release and would be grateful for an interpretation.

If shares are only offered to the public, I suppose that includes institutional investors? Also, I'd be interested to know how the market works in this situation. ie, if supply of shares exceeds demand, will the price keep dropping until they're all sold? It is about 4.6% of their market cap.
I would like to purchase shares and would appreciate guidance on when you would suggest this could be done.
Many thanks.
ps. I very much appreciated your frank article 2 days ago on the financialpost.com

Q: I own both of these companies. Looking to increase my exposure to renewable energy companies. Looking to the future, do you see any greater upside in share price for either one or should I just increase my investment in each one? Do you know of any other Canadian companies that are comparable or may even have more chance of increasing in value as we move forward. Both of these companies are held in my RRIF account. Thanks for your much respected advice.

Q: Hello 5i. I would like your opinion on the renewable energy industry. These companies seem to have done well over the yr. Would you classify these as being cyclical and what would there cycle be? I am looking at getting into these but find their valuations expensive currently. Do you see a catalyst for their prices falling in the near future or do they have momentum on their side?
Q: I have enjoyed the steady rise of aqn over the last couple years. What does you research attribute the increase to? Projects and revenue coming on line or flight to higher yield in low interest environment. I guess the question is does the company deserve the multiple? When do you start worrying about valuations?
