Q: Good afternoon Troops. 65y/o retiree looking to reduce my holdings and consolidate into an easier to manage portfolio. I have chosen six ETFs to give me some international and US exposure, some using covered calls for income. For the Canadian side of my portfolio I have chosen these ten stocks that would be my core holdings going forward. Can you please comment on this strategy and if these stocks are suitable for my situation. Cheers.

Q: Do any of the utilities held in these ETF’s offer the same kind of energy power support for the mega computers running AI applications as something like VRT in the US?

If not are there any Canadian companies that do so and would be an attractive investment in this area?

Q: Looking for a few suggestions for a new position in the Utility space (Cdn) that you think is at at a favourable valuation based on a mix of reasonable growth potential and history of dividend increases together with healthy balance sheet? Please omit Fortis, Hydro, Enbridge and Brookfield companies even if they would be your first picks. Thanks so much.

Q: Your thoughts please on this TFSA used by a retired banker that is very simple but has vastly outpermormed the TSX. I realize only 3 sectors are covered but looks to be all quality companies?

Thx

Q: I am an income investor as I live off the dividend stream I receive. I recently started a small position in BIP.UN. I have a full position in EMA. EMA seems to have had a pretty good run lately and also I believe they have reduced their projected dividend growth rate over the next few years. I am thinking of selling my EMA position and shifting it to BIP.UN as BIP.UN seems to have more upside on unit appreciation, a higher dividend and perhaps a higher dividend growth rate. Thoughts on this potential swap??

Q: Confused by the reaction of these 3 names. EMA/FTS up materially and BIP.UN down so far this year. Thoughts on why? Also on EMA with a 29% return YTD the stock must be stretched. Would you suggest a switch to BIP.UN?

Q: Please rank according to current buy rating. All of these equities are dividend aristocrats with current dividend/distribution higher than 4.5%. Thanks

Q: I notice that both ENB and EMA have high payout ratios. ENB seems to be about 138% on Dividendhistory.org and EMA around 98%.
Is this possible? What does it say about the safety of the dividend or do utilities use a different calculation when it comes to Dividend payouts?
Thank you
Frank

Q: Hi Peter & 5i Team,

I'm looking at the 3 month, 6 month and year-to-date charts of BIP.UN and BEP.UN compared to their peers (EMA and FTS). What would you attribute the reasons for their underperfmance? The 3 year chart for both of these Brookfield entities isn't exactly stellar as well.

As always, your comments and insights are highly valued.

Q: What would you think about tactically moving / trimming from EMA / FTS - the more regulated utilities to ones like BIP / BEP given the big differences in performances YTD. Would you not feel that when the markets recover EMA / FTS will be used as a source of cash?

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and Team,

US bond yields have recently increased quite substantially due to the self-inflicted chaos caused by Trump. Canadian yields have also risen, but thankfully not as much as in the US. Even dividend payers like Fortis, Emera, and Hydro One have recently been under pressure.

Portfolio Analytics tells me that our Utilities exposure needs to be increased. Since the three stocks referenced are “on sale”, do you think that this could be an opportune time to buy some FTS, EMA, or H? We already have a large holding of FTS, but I’m intrigued by the recent momentum of Emera.

Your thoughts on this strategy will, as always, be of help as we try to navigate through this truly bizarre period.

Q: Today Emera moved their CFO to Florida, seemingly to better manage their $20 billion dollar Florida project runway.
Sounds good in theory, but I am curious if you see any possible Trump or DeSantis headwinds from a Canadian company expanding in this state in particular, given the "America first" sentiment.

Q: What order would you place these for buying right now...and maybe a bullet point as to why or why not for each? Many thanks!
