Q: Hi 5i Team,

I have partial positions in both of the 2 stocks above and I am looking at adding to one of them. I've had HTL for awhile and has climbed back to my purchase price and trending nicely even with recent volatility. TCS is a relatively new position for me. I've watched it for a while and missed the initial run I really like its potential. Both are part of a diversified small cap portfolio.

I would like to know if you would be comfortable adding to positions in these stocks today? Do you have a preference for one or the other today?

Q: Please recommend a few stocks to deploy some cash. I am hesitant to buy into these strong markets (I'm cheap) but am getting impatient waiting for any kind of correction. Looking for reasonable safety, decent dividend and some growth, irrespective of sector.

Q: Hi 5i, Since early October volume on ABT has diminished considerably. The share price has moved up nicely but on low volume compared to historical levels. Do you know any reason why volume would be lower as the company seems to be putting up solid results the past few quarters.

Q: The merger with Flutter will it be or not a taxable event? After price my most important question and I can find no discussion of it on either Co's website! Is this usual? Makes it very hard to plan avant garde!
Is it that they don't know? Should I suppose it is taxable? Could you put some case experience to this premerger mystery?

Q: EQB and ROKU are a couple of under-performers over the last while that I hold. With EQB, I read your questions and answers everyday and I have come across better stocks than this and I am wondering if I should just move on. I know any information I get from you on US stocks is a bonus but by doing the reading on the Questions & Answers, ROKU is one of the stocks that you used to like, hopefully you still do and there are just so many other US ones I read about that are doing better. What is your opinion on this? I really enjoy the service. Thanks Dennis

Q: In your current model portfolio update I see you dropped spinmaster. With the new DC marvel contract taking effect March 2020, dont you see growth opportunities. Your thoughts.

Q: Trying to decide what to do with the cash from selling TOY. Thoughts on moving this to a new position in GIL? I see they had a big drop in October. Any reasons to stay away? Or any other suggestions on what to do with this cash. This would be a new position in a TFSA.

For those of us planning to sell our TSGI shares, would you recommend waiting until after Flutter and TSGI report their Q4 results on February 27th? Of course, share price could go in either direction depending on the results, but what would be your inclination? I am planning to put the proceeds of this sale into Lightspeed. Thanks.

Q: I look at the company profiles you provide (among other things) before purchasing a stock. I sort of like a stock with a low PB ratio. It worries me when I look further and see a low price to tangible book value. I'm not totally sure what it means to have a negative price to tangible book. No real underlying value compared to the value of a bunch of good will or patents? I'm ok paying for patents (I think) but I am less happy paying for good will as I think that is just management paying too much for an acquisition. Is there anyway to distinguish the provenance of the intangible assets? How do you view the intangible value stats? Does this even come into your review of a company? Or do you just consider intangibles "good" if the company performance by other metrics is "good". Could you please recap when price to tangible book value is a stat that is worth considering. It causes me worry sometimes and I hesitate on purchases to my detriment.

From what i have been reading (Tony Siba) next year is the tipping point for purely economic reasons, it won't make any sense economically to buy a gasoline powered vehicle. From his point of view Batteries are going to be a huge disruptive technology in the future in both, transportation and energy (natural gas) as they become cheaper, and much more powerful.
Have you guys been looking for any investment opportunities in this sector.?

Q: Is there a way to hold the S&P index in an ADR or some other instrument that would turn the investment into a Canadian capital gain. (maybe I am just wishing) Could you explain how an ADR works. Thank you for your valuable assistance.

Q: Hello Iam looking for your thoughts on QTRH. I have owned this in my TSFA for sometime now currently at a loss. From todays value I would need a double to break even, I am happy to sit and collect the dividend as this account is long term but do you think this company can get moving again or should I sell and put the proceeds into say ATD.B or PLC or?? Q: Aqn appears to be on a tear. Will report yearend on feb 28. A buy at this price and do have a comment on expected earnings.? Would you recommend the purchase of npi also and expected earnings?

Q: Comment on US RIF withdrawal. TD uses the exchange rate at time of withdrawal to calculate the amount.

Q: Comment on Kevin's question about the minimum withdrawal from a USD RIF. I don't know the answer but I believe they would use the FX on Dec. 31/Jan. 1 and not on the date of withdrawal. That would set the amount for the year and most brokerages will have a spot on your account page where they tell you that amount for the year. My withdrawal amounts show up automatically on Jan. 2.
