A predictive question; I tax loss sold MG @ end of 2023 and should be qualified to re-buy. Would you wait for earnings Feb 9 before buying back the position? Put another way do you expect any issues with the up coming earnings for MG?

1) The performance of the US markets seems to be much better than TSX in the longer term. Should an average investor consider focusing mostly on US holdings instead of Canadian stocks?

2) I would like to get your opinion on HBGD in terms of potential returns, how risky is this ETF and what role could it play in an average investor's portfolio within a 7-8-year timeframe before when decumulation begins.

On Feb 1st you included BCE as one of the companies with the safest dividends on the TSX.
On Feb 2nd the answer to a question on BCE was "and its free cash flow has been declining over the past few years. Over the past 12 months, its free cash flow is not sufficient to cover its dividends, and the company has issued debt to service these payments. Its debt-to-equity is climbing, and its net debt/EBITDA is high at 3.6X."
The 2 answers seem to be a bit of a contradiction. I understand you are referencing free cash flow (after capital expenditures) are not sufficient.
Would it have been better said that they are issuing debt to finance capital expenditures and infrastructure than to pay dividends?

Q: Hi, was wondering about swapping Nvei for Eif .
Looking for a more stable company with the dividend. Would also get a tax loss by selling Nvei . Could you talk about the two for management, debt, and long term investment..
Which would you like in a downturn or recession if or when we get one?

Q: Hi: I am looking back at your recent answers and also this week’s earnings. Are you now recommending that GOOS is a sell, please advise with some suggested guidance going forward. Q: Dear Peter et al:

Your consistent positive answers about PLTR and your courage of conviction is admirable. Whether fellow subscribers pose questions on PLTR lumping it with other technology companies (different fields) or on its own (in Nov/Oct 2023) you have always expressed your positive endorsement of PLTR.

But it has been slipping recently despite positive AI environment and Govt contracts. Whilst it has recovered from its low , it hasn't taken off like other AI darlings. (especially today when Meta added 200B in a day!!)

From your consistent previous answers I know:

You are not a fan of "averaging down".
Yet some times you suggest one take 1/3 or 1/2 position and then take a full position later.
You also have cited studies that suggest taking a full position has better outcome in long term instead of averaging down or up.

I know you answer to fellow subscribers' questions based on the way they pose the question.
That may explain the apparent conceptual contradictions. I understand that.

What are your words of wisdom about PLTR taking above points into consideration. Take a full position/or do a 1/2 now and 1/2 later, wait for a while? Will it reach it's once peak of 40+$? Who are it's real competitors? Should one switch?

NVEI announced partnership with CASH APP yesterday. I had expected this to be a bigger deal than the market is telling us. It seems nothing can move the needle with this name. Is it being constantly held down by the shorts? Is it worth holding on to? I am down huge in this name (-78%), and so far, it doesn't seem to be recovering.

Q: Peter and gang,I just checked out my rate of return since inception on the acct. that holds your balanced portfolio and it is an amazing 500%.I do use margin to some extent and I have DOL and FFH in the acct,but don't have TRI and IFC,I also swapped CM for BN and PHY for AEM.I have been a member 5I pretty well since inception because I was a big fan of Peter's on Market Call.Also,in my other accts.,before I buy a stock I always check what 5I has to say about it!!!So thanks again,I couldn't be happier!!!

Q: I noticed that LTV has halted trading. Looks like they are selling their assets and patents and will try to remain on the TSXV in hopes of finding something to buy or engage in a reverse takeover. Couple of questions
1) is company dead and simply taking a last breath or is there any hope at all
2) if it does stay on the TSXV but move down to the "NEV Board", what does that mean and can the shares be traded on the NEV Board just as easily as they trade today on the "tier 2 platform"? What is the difference between the NEV board and the tier 2 platrform?
3) what would you do?
