Q: would you say it is a good time to buy ECN now that it paid out a $7.50 dividend. Seems that the price to buy is now $5.31

Q: Happy New Year to all at 5i and to the everybody reading this. Hoping that 2022 is a good year for all of us and our families, from a financial perspective and one of well being, health and happiness.
Reviewing some of the past questions, I see that the ECN distribution is treated partially as a dividend and partioally as a "Return on Capital". For the latter, would you know how this is to be treated for tax purposes? i.e. Is it a capital gain, income, ...
Thank You.

Q: Are we long-suffering customers of BMO Investorline still the only ones waiting to receive our ECN dividend monies?? It was payable on the 22nd. Today is the 29th. I realize we've had holidays, but seriously!
Q: Seasons greetings to the wonderful team.
My initial position in ECN has shrunk as a result of the payout. Would you advise reinvesting ROC back in the stock?
Thank you

Q: Happy Holidays to everyone. I called my broker (cibc) to ask about the ECN dividend and ROC . They just called back to say it won't be paid until Dec 24 and will not be reflected in my account until Dec. 29. This is not what I hoped for, but perhaps the answer is helpful to others looking for this cash
Q: Can I get a detailed account on the ECN dividend and return of capital. Stock is really hit hard today (12-23-2021, Noon) @ $5.26.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Q: Hi group what's going on with ECN no cash in my account and the share price has dropped when do we get the cash in our accounts ?...than for all you do happy holidays
Q: What is the reason re major correction on Dec23/21
Q: Hi there, today I received a notice from my discount broker (RBC) of the pending dividend payment but the amount indicates $4.14 cdn per share. We all seem to know it’s $7.50…any idea why this amount?
Q: What is you expected "reasonable" ECN share price after it pays out the $7.50 per share to shareholders?
The reason why I ask is because is my ECN share are held in my RRIF account and I can't take that money out. I was entertaining the thought of just reinvesting that money into the newly "shrunken" down ECN shares - as long as it will be traded at a reasonable price.
Thanks.

Q: When will the special dividend be paid ? I need to know to if it will be in my rrif before year end.
Cheers Doug

Q: Would you please explain why ECN is dishing all this money to shareholder and then turn around and then issue a debenture? Wouldn't it be better to use the money they are giving away rather than leveraging their balance sheet? Any indication what this money is going to be used for? Does this improve their growth potential?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Q: If the ECN dividend is setup as a DRIP, how is the price of the new purchased shares determined? Is it end of day value or is there a price guarantee of some sort? I guess what I'm wondering is, will the automatic purchase of new shares from the special dividend effect the market value of the shares on the dividend payout date?
Q: This has gotten increasingly confusing.
Can you please confirm how the due bill works?
If shareholders were to sell when would be the last day they could and not receive the dividend?
If shareholders were to sell and want to be still paid the dividend what is the earliest date one could sell?

Q: I'm in the process of rebuilding my portfolio for 2022. It would be helpful if you could share with me a list of both Canadian and American companies that meet the following criteria:
1. They are some of your favourite companies from a fundamental perspective
2. They are currently buying back their own shares.
3. They offer a decent dividend.
4. They run businesses that offer good growth prospects for next year.
5. They currently offer good value.
6. These companies are so solid they would classify as 'core ' holdings.
At least six companies in each list would be appreciated.
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude for the support and ideas you have shared this past year. Definitely one of the best advisory services available to Canadians,

Q: I have some ecn in my riff and need to get some cash available for my year end withdrawal and need to know if the dividend payment is in fact to be paid before year end to cover my government obligation so I will not have to sell other stocks to meet the cash requirement. Please advise.
Cheers Doug

Q: Well, count me confused.
“The Distribution is scheduled to be paid on December 22, 2021 (the “Payment Date”) to holders of Common Shares of record as of the close of business on December 15, 2021 (the “Record Date”). Subject to confirmation from the Toronto Stock Exchange, ECN Capital expects the Common Shares to commence trading on a “due bill” basis at the opening of trading on December 14, 2021 and to commence trading “ex-distribution” on December 23, 2021. The due bill redemption date will be December 24, 2021.”
This seems to indicate that you must be in ownership of ECN on December 14 to receive the dividend/distribution on the 22nd.
Is this some sort of financespeak? Are they aspiring politicians?

Q: Please clarify the ex dividend date for ECN’s special dividend. You have now given different answers ‘to this question, probably due to the company’ s confusing press release.
Q: Looks like the ex-dividend date is now Dec 23; what is due bill?

Q: Hi 5I
I have $180,000 split evenly amongst above companies in RRSP. I was going to begin withdrawing $10,000 every year and am looking for strategy to draw down to maximize growth of account. Is there a ranking of companies to sell first, or take a bit from each? I like them all so tough call for me. Appreciate all your advice since my initial membership in 5I.
