Q: How would you rank these for adding to my TFSA today? They have all been beaten up, but are good stocks. Thanks as always!
Q: Further to Denise's question Wednesday about seeking ways to reduce taxes when receiving OAS, I have found that the purchase of Flow Through shares helps reduce my taxes. I know they say Flow Throughs are mainly for those in the highest income bracket, but they help all tax payers reduce taxes payable . I guess it is a question of "how much" does it help

Q: Hello 5I, looking at potentially adding a fintech stock to round up my portfolio. With that said which do you think has the most upside but is a decent company? Please add other options if i missed some names. Thanks
Q: Can I get your opinion on Olympia going forward? What’s the current payout ratio? My thought is that it should benifit a lot from raising rates mid term. I know this is quite small and illiquid but just asking with those risks set aside. Thanks
Q: Good morning 5i
In a response concerning selling call options awhile ago you said that you try to avoid stocks with dividends. I can understand how it adds another layer of difficulty, i am wondering if one checks that the ex-dividend date doesn’t fall sometime before the expirary date of the option, that you would likely be ok. For instance, i have call options on jpmorgan expiring on Feb 18. But i checked that the ex- dividend date doesn’t fall beforehand. It is Ex-Div Date
2022-01-05. Should most of the danger be avoided in such a scenario?

Q: You answered Ronald’s question of Feb 8 re tax implications of having more than $100K in US equities by indicating CRA form 1135 must be completed. You did not indicate if this was only applicable to non- registered accounts. Does it apply to registered accounts e.g. TFSA and RIF. Clarification would be appreciated.
Q: I have to start withdrawal from my RRIF this year. Besides TFSA, I would need some strategies to minimize taxes and OAS clawback. I didn’t find anything in the Forums, and no way to search in the Blog (sorry..). Do you know of any book or good web site for canadians? I’m looking for Tax-efficient ETFs (Horizons, others?..), mutual Funds (Are the Class Series still available?). Anything I could use in a non-registered account. I will aim at capital gains, dividends and interest revenues in that order for individual stocks. PS: I’m a subscriber of « Money Saver » (Possible source of info).
Thanks as usual

Q: Someone asked a question today about what large, medium energy company you would pick today as a favourite and for the large cap you chose TOU. You surprised me with your choice being it is mostly a natural gas company I think. I'm curious as to why you suggested it. Please explain.
Q: Thank you for the update on TOI's earnings. How do you see this rolling out over the next 3-5yrs. Similar to CSU with upside potential? From Total Addressable Market, is there lots of growth in TOI's future? I find the company to be quite stealth with limited information. Do you seeing this changing in the future, including analyst coverage and institution buying.

Q: You indicated today that financials are one of the better sectors to be in. Assuming an investor is just starting out and wanted to buy a basket of financial companies. The goals would be to:
1. capture relatively high dividends from some of the larger companies
2. secure some faster growth by buying some small/mid-cap companies understanding this would require acceptance of. a bit more risk.
What Canadian companies would you suggest this investor buy today to put in that basket?

Q: Hi 5i team:
To calculate the adjusted cost base for shares held in a non-registered account that I wish to sell, do I include the cost of the same shares held in a registered account (TFSA)? Or are they considered two separate pools for tax purposes? Thanks for your help. Ron

Q: Hi,
I sold my NTR back in Dec for some tax loss selling in margin account. I bought MOS as a proxy and its up 20% since then. Should I switch back to NTR now or keep holding MOS? Would have to report a gain on MOS now if I switched back. How does NTR and MOS compare now and what are the growth prospects going forward. Looking at historical performance, they move somewhat in tandem to each other. Thanks!

Q: Good morning, Peter & 5 i team
Will Zimmer spin off have positive effect on its share price and future growth? If you must choose 1 of the 2, would you choose Zim Vie over Zimmer Biomet?
Thank you and have a good day!

Q: For someone with a long time horizon and high risk tolerance, and a smaller portfolio, it seems like it might be a good time to invest in a growth ETF. I know you like IWO, but IJR has a lower MER. What are the main differences between these two ETFs? Which would you recommend and why?

Q: Is the big decline over the last three months mostly related to the general tech decline or are there specific issues related to the company? Is it worth consideration at this price?
