Q: In a high growth portfolio I hold the following US stocks: CRWD, GOOGL, NVO, Uber and the ETF XT. I think I would like to replace the ETF XT with a single growth stock. XT has done okay for me in that it has doubled but that took nearly 10 years. Can you recommend a faster growing US stock that would be a good fit?

Thank you.

Q: I'd like to invest a substantial inheritance in solid, relatively safe dividend stocks in a non-registered account for a stream of tax-efficient income. Can you suggest 7-8 stocks for me to consider and do you consider that number enough for diversification? Would you buy in gradually over the year or invest all at once? Is it unwise to invest in Canadian stocks only ( have geographic diversification in my registered accounts)? I won't need the income for 2-3 years and will probably hang on to them for life, whatever that may be (I'm in my late 50s). Thanks. I have tons of credits - use as many as needed.

Q: I realize that you must wait 30 business days before you can repurchase a stock that you sold for a capital loss but are there any rules about the timeline on when you purchased the stock before selling it?

Q: Just out of curiosity, what do you think about Mr. Trump’s company (Truth Social) that has recently gone public? I see that it’s up 11.99% at the moment, is it the novelty effect that’s causing this? Thank you

Q: Where could one look to learn about investing in critical minerals?
If you were to buy 5 companies in this area today, which would they be? Note: I prefer CDN companies, but would buy a U.S. one if it were significantly better

Q: Hi, Powell Industries seems to be in the right sector of electrical infrastructure and stock has done very well. However, as noted in your recent comments, it has been quite volatile, specially after the last quarterly results released in January.

The founder CEO, Mr Thomas Powell has sold bunch of shares in late 2023, as well over 50,000 shares, over a period of several days, between Feb and March, this year, ( $154 to $187 ). In addition, as per F144 filed on March 4, he intends to sell additional 200,000 shares, of which only 4000 shares have been sold on March 4 ( $185-$189 ). So, effectively, there continues to be an overhang of an impending sale of remaining shares, in the market.

Does it explain the sharp and precipitous decline of the stock over past 3 weeks ?

Is this a red flag and limits the future upside of this stock ?

On the bright side, Mr Powell still owns over 2.2 mln shares, which is about 22% of issued and o/s common shares of Powell Industries.

In your opinion, is the price decline of $45 from its recent high is overdone and POWL is a decent buy now, based on current valuation, minimal debt and future growth potential ?

We purchased the shares recently and own with ACB of $160 ( 1.25% weight ) to complement our HPS.a 3% position. Do you recommend holding the shares and add at current level or wait for next quarter ?

Thank You

Q: Hi - are you current fans of the US homebuilding stocks (and their macro environment) for next 12-18 months? If so, what stocks do you prefer to buy at current prices (and a brief "why")? Many thanks as always!
