Q: Can you provide a 'buy' list for a person wanting to deploy $200,000 (inside RRSP) with the goal of creating 5% or more sustained cash flow - as well as growing the original capital to keep up with inflatiion? We do not have company pensions - this would serve to supplement our government pensions.
Thinking, 20 stocks across all sectors @ $10,000 each (or 5%)
Also could you include 10 growth stocks (inside TFSA) for a total of $250,000 - gotta have some fun ;)
Many Thanks
Jan

Q: In my search for a consumer cyclical stock that pays a good dividend and is not too risky in this economic climate I came across Carter's (CRI:US). Do you have an opinion on this company and would you add it to a conservative income oriented portfolio?
Many Thanks

Q: Hello,
I have some CAD cash to invest in an unregistered account. Time horizon of 3+ years. Good time to grab a position in TECH.to or better to buy the underlying stocks? I read your comment around cash on the sideline impacting many of these stocks. If it was you… how would you play it?

Q: Hi 5i, The FED seems to monitor lagging indicators for policy decisions. Could you give your views on these indicators and also provide a better, leading indicator for investors to follow. And links to these indicators would also be great.
Thx again for your sanity in a insane market!

Q: In my holding company trading account with a year-end of Oct 31, I plan to sell these losers in the next few days to offset earlier capital gains. I expect that these companies may drop even further during the tax loss selling season. Do you see any potential for any of these companies that might lead me to buy back the shares after 30 days?
Q: Hello, Most Banks and Utilities got hammered today mercilessly and stocks in these sectors made new 52 weeks Lows. Any specific reasons, in your view ? Energy has held very well and Tech sector appears to have found a bit of a ground. Treasury/Bond yields seems to have resumed their upwards trend after a brief 2/3 days pause. Many Experts (5i included) have indicated that there was a lot to feel good about in the two days of market rally, including strong market breath, the VIX topping at 34, on Friday etc. Do you think, it's not All Clear yet and market could test new lows ? Thank You
Q: Capital Power has been solid and steady up until now. What has happened to cause this 6% slide today?
Q: I notice no questions about CVX since last year. I have a substantial loss in this percent wise but a small position. Any point waiting a month or two to see if the market recovers or would you take a tax loss now?
Q: Hello,
How low can this one keep falling? Mkt Cap - $113B USD and yet priced at 1992 levels. Ouch!
Are the divs sustainable?
What would you do?
Should I move to Verizon?
Thanks!

Q: I own AQN in my dividend growth portfolio and would like to add another utility. Is Fortis to similar to AWN or different enough for a diversified portfolio. Also thining of Emera or perhaps ATCO for better diversification. Which of these or others would be your preference for another utility in a portfolio?

Q: In a dividend portfolio would you prefer Scotia bank with its higher yield despite recent concerns in respect of the new CEO or National Bank. We also have TD and Royal in our portfolio. Similarly would you prefer Manulife over Intact Financial for now given the higher dividend for the current time.
Q: Which of these companies do you consider to be a better buy at this time. Clearly I'm looking for sustainable dividends but also some growth over the next few years. Do you have better suggestions in the utility sector?
Q: Along with renewables also utilities like H,AQN, FTS are diving-could you comment?
Q: What do you make of the slip in share prices of BEP.UN (-15%) and BIP.UN (-9%) during the last 30 days or so? These drops are rather substantial for those two traditionally stodgy unit trusts. Thanks.
