Q: In diversified registered portfolios I am underwater (16%-35%) for these 4 holdings. Are any of these likely to enter positive territory in the next 12 months? In what order would I sell these? Many thanks for a great service.

Q: This question is more of a question on my method of reasoning... I have three what I consider " speculative " positions in my RRIF . SLVO a 3.85% position, GDXY an 11.1% position and GSY which has fallen 40% in price and is now a 4.25% position .... The first two I feel qualified to monitor world events and see the signs of selling. I'm in at a $3000 price of gold and bought SLVO at the same time ..... GSY is what concerns me . My reasoning is that though GSY reports on March 25 it is PRL that will swing the scales on March 2 ... { please correct me if I am wrong on those dates } .... I see the following scenarios .....

1} PRL beats the numbers and is either flat or a modest rise . GSY does the same .

2} PRL doesn't beat the numbers and drags GSY down with it . As both are in the dog house I'm thinking a lot .....

3} GSY once dropping below $100 drops like a stone ....

From a risk reward point of view please critique my reasoning and if it might be prudent to get out of Dodge before March 2nd ?

Q: I have some holdings in these stocks in non registered accounts at significant losses. At this time, would you recommend taking losses on these to trade for others? I don't mind switching sectors if you feel that future potential is understated, for example, compared to Shopify or Celestica or others.

Q: Now that Paramount has won the bid to buy WBD at 31$ per share, and stock price is still 28, do you see an almost guaranteed 10% gain as long as you're willing to hold the stock for a few months or a year?
It almost seems like a lot of free money. Any explanation why the current price is not closer to 31?
Do you recommend buying at $28?

Q: Hi, I am wondering about the Cdn bank ETF offering a bit of leverage through loans called HCAL. It sounds like a reasonable way to execute a bit of leverage, but I have to wonder if it is better than owning some of, or all six of the Cdn banks. Would you recommend the ETF, or just owning some combination of the banks directly. If owning the banks directly could you offer an opinion on which ones you prefer and how many? Would you overweight one over others, or stick with an equal weight ownership? As always, your insight is very much appreciated - thanks!

Q: I'm looking to close out some minor gaps in my portfolio & I would really appreciate your view on TMX & Loblaws (obviously 2 very different companies). Are you currently liking them?
