Q: Fortis doesn’t seem to be getting much love from analysts, I think more holds and sells than buys? The target price (understanding your feelings about analyst’s targets) is also less than the current price I believe. I thought the prospect of lower rates would be a tailwind. What is the bear case? What say you?
Q: I already own APD. I had been watching it bought it less than a year ago after some bad news where the stock dropped 15% in a day. I am up 50% on it at this point.
I am considering adding LIN to my portfolio as it seems to have some favorable tail winds and ratings....however I am wondering if these stocks are different enough to provide any diversity. There is a lot of variety on industrials. Am I picking two options that are too close together?
Q: I have held WMT for about 9 years and it has been a good performer (17.6% annual return) during this time. This year its stock price is up 55% despite its earnings growing at around 4%. I note that its current PE is very high relative to its 5-yr PE. Obviously, I like WMT but I am concerned that it is overpriced relative to its past metrics and, possibly, other stocks in this sector. If you were faced with this issue in your portfolio what would you do and why (I am particularly interested in the 'why'). Thanks in advance for your opinions; I find selling a stock difficult particularly when it has been a long-term winner and I trying to develop a better framework for handling these types of situations.
Q: Greetings. I'm considering some fall cleaning and would value your opinion on each of these (currently underwater) listed stocks. Hold or toss over the side and go trolling for more profitable opportunities? Thanks for your response.
Q: In sports when teams are considering firing a coach the question is often asked, is there a better replacement before you pull the trigger? While I am not about to "fire" NVDA I am overweight (6.5%) and have trimmed it 4 times. Question is, what do I replace it with that looks like it has better future growth potential in this segment?
Q: I have recently read that actively managed bond funds or etfs, unlike equities or the same, have a better outperformance history. Can you please comment on this? Would you recommend buying into any and if so could you recommend some?
Also do you think there is more room to run from dropping rates?
Those referenced here are general passive funds.
Thanks
Q: Hello
I’m sitting on a fair amount of cash in Canadian dollars that I want to protect from falling against the US dollar without going through cost of conversion to US
Any instrument that I can use to earn some interest and hedge against an expected drop…I own a lots of ZSP.
Cheers
Peter
This is a follow up to a question by Danielle, While XGRO sounds like a growth oriented ETF, can you please review it to see if it actually is. By my quick review it holds almost 20% in bonds and treasuries and its actual stock holdings (via ETFs) are run of the mill, not really leaning towards growth. Or am I missing something? Thanks.
Q: I've still got my now worthless XBC shares in my trading account. Seems its taking years to finalize the bankrupcy. Is there any benefit to leaving these shares or is it best to get rid of them and claim the loss? What do I ask the brokerage to do to get rid of these shares to produce the loss statement, since I can't sell them on the open market? Thx
Could you recommend 3 ETFS that you would consider for a 70 years old retiree. My portfolio is currently 95% in Equities both in Dividend ETFS (VDY, ZEB, XEI and XDIV and individual shares (ENB, RY, TELUS, and BMO.)
Q: In the last 3 months, $DRX has declined around 30% with avg. 198K shares traded per day. The technical charts do not show any support until $2.11. How do you find out who is continuously selling the stock even though fundamentals have improved. If someone has greater than 10% exposure in the stock, should they be worried.
Q: Hi interested on your opinion of Core Scientific Inc (CORZ), it has been attracting institutional buying lately? Does it look like a strong growth stock to buy?
Q: Peter and His Wonder Team
I am not a gold bug but I can see the reasons why it is over $2700.00 and heading for $3000.00. I have owned this company forever and am almost even. I know it is small and will move in tandem with gold. Do you think it has any potential to go a little higher or is the price of gold already baked in. So is it a hold or sell? Thanks!
Q: I am interested in your comments/risk assessments of YieldMax Covered Call ETF's such as NVDY and APLY. They have been showing very high dividend yields. How sustainable are these yield levels. Are there any similar products available in Canada?
