Q: I would appreciate your opinion on the Spartan group of funds. In particular the MM fund SPA520. I noticed one of the principles of this fund was also involved in managing the Salida multi strategy fund and you know how this fund ended up with disaster performance.

Q: Hello
Could you please tell me how drips get taxed?
Since they pay in stock, does the value of the stock received get treated as dividend income on a T5? Is the only difference being the dividends are paid in stock and often purchased at a discount?
Or is it a formula where the ACB gets adjusted and the benefit is in the form of a capital gain once the shares are sold?

Q: Your sudden sell recommendation on abt totally shocked me.
Your thesis has always has been to invest over the longer term.
This stock was your favorite not to long ago and now all of a sudden management is lousy and you have no confidence in abt anymore.
Other people you tell to wait a couple more months ,see if things turn around.
My question,did you ever talk to management?did you visit their offices?
You mention it as a take over candidate....which companies could take this over?
Are their growth prospects taken longer then expected,or is it not expected at all?
Is the dididend safe?

Q: Hi 5i staff, I Think this would be a good income investment , however I am really confused regarding the Mer.
Redwood shows 1.50 Mer on their site, You show 1.76 , Morningstar shows 1.76, TD direct shows Mer @ 1.76, but also shows Actual management fee @2.25.
Is there an answer as to why all the discrepancy.
Another Question, Why would anyone pay the high Mer for the mutual fund version when the sam product is available as an ETF with a .75 Mer

Q: Hello Peter and Team,
I am looking to deploy some cash in young persons TFSA, so the time horizon is long. Could you suggest as a couple of good long term stocks that are presenting a buying opportunity at the moment? Or perhaps just your favorite couple of names (maybe the best stocks never go "on sale"). Or would you hold some cash and wait for a possible further correction before buying?
