Q: Recently you had a very good article on the tax implications of what type of accounts one has investments in. Unfortunately unable to locate article. Wondering in particular of holding US funds in the US portion of a TFSA - good or bad idea.? Also please explain your answer of March 10/2021 - that BAM.A works better in a TFSA - rather than a RRSP.

Q: The offer for BPY shares is US$18.17 from BAM. In the past 2 weeks BPY has been trading at a higher value. Today it closed at US$18.73, 3% above the offer. Why is it trading above the offer price?

The offer also said you could opt for 0.3979 of a BAM share. Today BAM closed at US$50.17. So if you opt for that option then you would get the equivalent of US$19.96. Are people bidding up BPY over the offer price and then they will exchange those BPY shares for 0.3979 of a BAM share? At today's prices they would make a 6.5% profit. BAM could fall between now and the closing so they are taking a risk. Is that the reason that BPY is trading above the offer price of US$18.17?

Q: MCAN (MKP) is a mortgage company that I hold. It seems to be a good income stock. It is raising more capital that I interpret as positive. Is this to hedge against the "expected" rising interest rates? If rates go up how will this affect their business? My holding is 3%, I am thinking of bring this up a bit based on their positive moves to increase capital. Am I reading this wrong?

Thanks,
Doug

Q: An analysts recently warned off on PPL. He cautioned that PPL using a reduction in dividends, might develop a planned but delayed refinery. Something along the lines of what IPL is doing with Heartland.
Would you trade all, some or any, of a long term and large percentage holding in PPL for TRP ?

Q: I'm well represented with banks, tech, and energy. Other than TFII, I own no industry. I want to own 3 of either WS, GDI, TIH, MG, CAR, or CP for the long term, looking for some growth, some dividends and not too much volatility. Which 3 do you suggest and why?
