Q: I accepted that your general program is akin to a newsletter and therefore treated my earlier membership as a nontaxable expense, for income tax purposes. Do you have any thoughts on whether the Portfolio Analytics program might more possibly be a tax deduction? If it is, does one need to separate out the cost of the Analytics for the expense claimed, or can the whole amount be used? Thanks for your excellent service.

Q: Hi 5i Team,
Xilinx reported EPS beating forecast, sales in line, but share price keep falling. Am I missing something?
Any reason for that falling?
What is the future outlook?
Thank you for your excellent service and helpful advice as always.

Q: I, like Medison, am fed up with Knight and Jonathan Goodman. I voted to keep him in and I thought that after the battle, he would try and create some shareholder value. If Medison can call a shareholders meeting, I think a lot of shareholders will side with Medison this time around. A very frustrating stock and I know that if one is frustrated, they should sell. Do you think we will ever see some move to the upside in Knight in this century, or maybe Knight is for the great-great-great-grandchildren. lol

Q: Hi Peter and Ryan,
Lately I contributed some cash into my RRSP. I owns many Canadian companies as you have in your demo portfolios. I also have US shares of QCOM, Google, Twitter, AYX, SQ. I am thinking of adding 2-3 of US stocks in my list above. What will you recommend? Or do you have other stocks that have good growth potentials in the long term?
Thank you,
Yiwen

Q: Seems like fear has overtaken reason in Cdn oil stocks, would you take a position in the above names? All are very profitable even under present circumstances. Thanks.
Q: ROC— my question is about return of capital.
If I had two companies with no capital gains for three years, one with roc at say 90% with a 5% yield and one company with a straight 5% dividend.
At the end of three years which would be the the best investment? Or is it awash because of taxes.
Thanks, hope this makes sense

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan and Team,
In my TFSA, I have FTS, KXS, PBH, PHO, SIS and WPK. Currently I am down on PHO (30 %) and SIS (20%) and the others are doing ok. Do you think the mix is right for a long term outlook? If not, could you recommend what to swap out and replace?
Thanks again for all your great work.
Marvin

Q: I posted this on the forum, but so far no replies:
I buy and sell on Investorline, but would like suggestions of a free site that is reliable to make quick portfolio checks. Yahoo and Morningstar are not what they use to be; Google was perfect until they ended it.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Q: Hi there,
I have mostly Canadian listed equities and am starting to dabble in US holdings. If you were going to start a Balanced Equity portfolio, with a higher tilt towards growth, what 5 names would you start with and in what order?
Thanks for the great service!

Q: What is the next report date for VET ? What are they expected to make if anything? Is the dividend safe? What is their cash flow & their debt as a %age? Is their payout ratio too high or fairly safe?
Thanks as always for your great information.

Q: Hello I notice that Brookfield office properties prefs have been rallying. Does 5i know why? Could it be due to Artis reit etfs recently being called at $21? Also, does bpo have a common stock listing?
Q: the recent increase in stock price up 118.00 in one day do you feel it is good to hold I only have a small number of shares ie10 buti purchased at 780.00?
Q: A friend and I were comparing our TFSA results. He is a passive index type and I am a stock picker. His balance is 107K and mine is 101K. At the moment it looks like he is winning. We have both contributed the max 63,500. But our book cost or cost basis raised a question. His cost shows as 77,500 and mine at 66,092. It looks like we have both over contributed but I know I haven't and he says he hasn't ...there must be something about cost basis that I don't understand. Can you explain?
