Q: Still hung up on sell or hold GSY. At 35$ I am down 70%. I know 5I always seems to suggest that not to redeploy cash from taking a loss as a means to make up for the loss.I do not quite get that. Could you explain .Regardless if I choose to sell do you think at today's price of 4.75$ that ZDC would provide more hope for me to recover or a better alternative .Much appreciated .Larry

Q: Two stocks, 2 questions. PNG has fallen from over $10.50 to $7.60. Was the stock run up to get favourable rates for when they raised money? Also, did it make the deal for their acquisition swim a bit easier? Where do you see things going from here? When do you think it will recover? Still a top 5i pick?
ZDC is another issue. Stock has been quite weak. I'm starting to think it may not work out all that well. They have no real moat and others can enter their market. But they have done well and recently raised money. What do you see for it going forward? Does it still make your favourite list of top stocks?

Q: Energy is obviously trading at a premium, given the current conflict, and with this in mind I was thinking of taking advantage of the bump and trimming my CNQ and SU positions. While I don't have any concerns about the companies, it would seem to make sense to monetize some of those gains. That being said, the current conflict has obviously impacted other sectors and companies negatively. What are some opportunistic buys (in your opinion) of companies that are currently depressed by the current conflict, but whose balance sheets and business models are sound, and who will probably do fine over the next 5 years.

Q: Hi 5i,
Because 5i looks favourably on ZDC I've looked into it with an eye to investing some of my hard earned money. Based on my review I wonder if you could elaborate on the reasons for your favourable analysis. I went to its website expecting to see a highly sophisticated and somewhat difficult to duplicate mobile security technology and found instead that ZDC basically provides little camera towers that it'll wheel out to a jobsite to provide mobile surveillance. Which really doesn't seem like much to me, but does really look like something that almost anyone with a mind to could replicate without much trouble.
I understand that it's a nice little business, but is ZDCs really a serious candidate for investment?
(I know this sounds very skeptical, but I was stunned by what a one trick pony ZDC appears to be, and not a very sophisticated pony at that. But it's a Calgary company and I'm a Calgary boy I would like to invest in it - if there's really any reason to think that reasonably soon - 1 or 2 years - it might be worth $11 or $12 instead of its current $5 and change, to justify taking the risk.)
Thanks 5i - I look forward to your thoughts.
Peter

Q: I have these small/mid caps in my portfolio for future growth. Any concerns with any of these? Please rank these for growth potential. I do realize GRID ZDC and ELVA are much smaller. Thanks Stephen

Q: A number of Small Caps have pulled back significantly. Do you still like these names? Are there any of these names that you feel should be sold?

Thanks

Q: Hi Team,
After selling gsy into yesterday’s bad news…any suggestions on where investors like me should invest to “get our money back”? Tough question …would need a double. I did put some funds into Tri yesterday on the dip. If Tri gets back to old highs at some point that would be a double. Is this a fair bet? Any other suggestions ? Tough question I know and realize can’t tell the future but looking for best bets here for names that might potentially produce a double over the next couple years or so?

On a side note regarding gsy…very disappointed in the company that I was holding a high position in for a long time. It seems to be lendcare was a bad acquisition. And now looking in that short report seems 100% correct …even down to the exact 300million range of charge offs. It’s also obvious in my opinion that it’s likely why Mullen left, and shortly after the new ceo. I don’t believe health reasons as cited was the issue. Same can be said for the ceo. I assume these guys knowing and not reporting to investors until now is a crime or no ? Any chance of getting any money back in likely upcoming lawsuits? I know …doubtful ; This was a tough pill to swallow as I lost 45k on this dip. Was probably holding more than I should have. This was a gut moving event for me and my family.

Thanks

Shane

Q: Hi, I always like your options about valuations. With this diverse group of stocks, please rank the order in which you'd initiate a position today, with a short explanation why. Thank you.

Q: Dear 5i,
I initiated a small position in Zedcore based on your prior recommendations after the Amazon competition threat decreased ZDC’s price - thanks for the timely evaluation. After a short ‘test-drive’ I am considering adding to it. I’d appreciate your take on the bought deal closing Feb 27. Can you explain why the underwriters are paying a premium to the current share price? Also, has the company outlined how it will deploy the $30 million and what is your take on the impact of this new spend on future growth. Thanks for helping me discover these ‘small’ growth companies (Can-PNG! US-NBIS!).
Sincerely, another very happy 5i member

Q: I have small 'starter' positions in these stocks , all still in the black with the exception of smallish losses in GLXY and KTOS, Most are in non-registered accounts. I have some spare cash and would like to increase position sizes. Are there any that you would add to at this time or would you continue to keep your powder dry for now ? Also, are there any that you feel should be let go ?
Thank you, as always.

Q: Do you consider these all industrial?

uri ens grid.to png.v mda.to vrt stn.to gpgi wsp.to tri.to krmn eose ceco zdc.to axon

If so, what would your current ranking be? Or if it's a better question, what would your ideal 5 stock portfolio be?
Replace with other industrial stocks as desired.

Would you agree that industrials look good going forward? And any preference to Can/USA focus for the sector right now?
