Q: Hi guys, I'm looking at your response to 'who's likely to suffer when NAFTA gets torn up' (which seems increasingly likely)... I have held these for a long time and been VERY happy with all of them, but is it time to trim them down? Do you think the NAFTA threat is sufficiently priced in? I'd love to get your thoughts on each one. Thanks! PS -- you can ding me for 5 questions :-)
Q: Hello,
Over the next 3-5 years, which commodity would you prefer, oil or natural gas? Why?
Regards,
Robert

Q:
I am down 40% and 21% for WCP and VET respectively in a RRIF account. Do you see any upside potential for these companies?
Would you sell or hold them hoping that oil prices will recover?
You can deduct two credits
Thank you

Q: Hi Peter,
If one were renewing their mortgage, based on your outlook would it best to enter a variable or fixed rate mortgage at this time and would a longer term (i.e. 5 yers) be preferred over a shorter term (i.e. 3 years). Appreciate any thought you may have. Thanks as always.

Q: Peter and His Wonder Team
I know you do not follow USA companies but I wondered if you could just give a general opinion. What do you think of there 3rd Q. report...after hours trading is down almost 16%...is it that bad? In light of the fact that they are in the middle of restructuring is this progress or more bad news?
Thanks as always...

Q: Hello,
I had asked previously as to whether you would be providing some recommendations of stocks that may become very good value due to probable tax loss selling. You did provide a response (*below). Could you let me know where best to find this information on you new web site?
Thanks,
Brian
*Yes, we do a screen and a blog outlining tax loss selling candidates every year. This should be done in a few weeks or so

Q: I decided a few weeks ago to start a position in Square, but cannot decide how to get in, with the stock hitting new highs almost everyday. Are there signals I could use to help me take a decision? You mentionned that you like buying stocks when there is momentum, but are there signals that can tell that momentum is running out? Thanks!

-
Vanguard Communication Services ETF (VOX $185.80)
Q: Hi 5i: Two questions - please deduct points as appropriate.
(1) I'm looking for a good telecom stock to complete a sector allocation. I hold BCE and Telus in another portfolio, so am considering Rogers. Can you suggest any others, preferably US, or perhaps a US Telco oriented ETF?
(2) As above, for the utility sector of the portfolio; a US utility, or a US utility ETF.
Your advice would be much appreciated. Regards Roland

Q: Re. my previous Q on TGH. You stated "...Revenue in the 3Q was $6.7M, up from $5.7M last year. It lost $0.5M in the quarterm and had negative $1M in cash flow."
When I saw that the question from 20-Sept is now visible and also references Q3 (which presumably wasn't available at that time) I wondered if there was a typo and it actually referred to Q2 (and then got copied into the answer to my question).
If I read it correctly, the Q3 report states Comprehensive *Income* of 56K on revenue of 7.6M (versus loss of 999K Q3 2016).

Q: You have indicated the payout ratio for PEY based on cash flow is 42%. Morningstar says the payout ratio is 153% for dividend and capital spending. When judging the safety of the dividend why would the capital spending not be considered? When the dividend and capital spending are not covered by cash flow is the difference made up from borrowings?
Thanks
Mike
Thanks
