Q: I have the above ETF's in my TFSA and am wondering if these belong in a TFSA? On reading your newsletter "Investments to hold in your TFSA" , I interpreted this to mean they do not belong in the TFSA. Am I right?
Thanks for your response.

Q: I own the above high dividend yield Canadian stocks, just under 4% yield and up. I am looking to add maybe 10 to 20 % to 4 or 5 positions. The yield on these is enough for us now so no hurry to sell anything.
Retired, but still looking at safety of capital. I have left out O&G plays and other potentially riskier plays. (except Enbridge)

Which of these, or other stocks do you believe have the greatest potential for price appreciation over the next couple of years if/when interest rates drop.

I am looking for your top 5, here but feel free to add other picks.

Thank you. Take as many credits as needed.

Q: Out of these 4, what two would you sell today and why (I know they are very different)? If you could include a comment on valuation please do.

Also, how does that answer change if we were to enter a recession?

Q: My investment advisor account with RBC DOMINION SECURITIES of over 30 years was closed by the company by forwarding a letter that the account had to be transferred.

The account was opened as fee based, then converted to percentage of assets. As fees charged as a percentage were excessive compared results and time devoted, the account was reverted to fee based, where each trade was as much as $500, This was changed several years ago with the consent of the advisor.

No reason was given and maybe more than 15 years with the same advisor, we did not even receive a call.

This to an 86 year old with more than 30yrs with RBCDS.

Sorry, just needed to vent and assumed that it may be of interest to some of your subscribers.

Publish as per your descretion.

Thanks
Thomas

Q: Hello I wanted to confirm I am correct in assuming if I transfer in kind a stock from a non registered account to a registered account that the transfer from the non reg would be taxable event? Assuming there was a profit, or if at a loss I could use that loss against other cap gains?

Thanks

Q: In your latest update you nominated GIB to a position in the Growth portfolio. It seems to have expertise in consulting, and cloud management etc.

If you were to pick a US company that did basically the same as GIB but which you think is the best company on a US exchange, which company would that be?

Thanks

Sheldon

Q: In a recent answer about BIR's drop following its quarterly release: "Considering strong growth is still expected in 2024, the stock's decline seems a bit harsh to us. The balance sheet also remains in excellent shape. We would be fine holding."
I'm curious if you would buy at this level or hold off for now. If holding off what would you like to see happen before buying?
Thanks-you.

Q: Good Morning 5i group. What are your thoughts for a recently retired person who has a large gain on CNR in an RRSP to sell the position tax free and buy an ETF say XEI and essentially triple the income and also diversify the portfolio further ?
Thanks for the great service, a different ETF or investment idea for consideration would be welcomed.
