Q: If one wanted to sell Aecon and move on what are some companies or suggestions in the Industrials sector that are buyable today with some growth and a good dividend

Q: My 22 year old son is a great saver with a long term horizon. His current investments are as follows and he holds approx $3,000 - $4,000 in each name:

$40,000 in a balanced TFSA with the following stocks: BCE, CHE.UN, CPH, ECN, KXS, MRE, MAXR, NA, PTG, SHOP, TOY and WEF

$12,000 in a Cash account with: OTC, PBH and SIS

He has another $10,000 to invest in his cash account. What 2 or 3 stocks would you suggest he adds - either to increase existing holdings or to establish new positions? To make it a "teachable moment" can you please give the rationale for your suggestions.

I have been a subscriber for a year now and my portfolio has never done better. I recently renewed for a 2 year period and never make a move with any of our family's investments without checking with you first. What a FANTASTIC service. Thank you

Q: I would like to add to my industrials and can't decide between these two companies. I know you like both. Is there anything that suggests one over the other? I am wondering if given I have enough healthcare already, is that enough to influence me to go with NFI as it is the "purer" industrial play?

My portfolio now closely mirrors the BE Portfolio only missing NFI. I have cash for two full positions.
XTC’s valuation seems interesting and it has gained traction recently. Would it be time to initiate a position or wait and see how the NAFTA negotiations evolve?

Q: Hello 5i team, My wife and I, retirees, hold a fairly conservative portfolio, including the listed stocks above in our TFSA's. Our overall asset mix is 5/45/50 cash/fixed income/equities. If (in view of the buoyant markets) we chose to increase our cash position, which 1 or 2 of the listed stocks would you suggest we sell? Thank you.

Q: Hi, i am looking to add some of these names to my portfolio. I want long term growth. I am young and can hold 5 years plus. Please ignore sector diversification. Can you rank best to worst. Can you also comment on significant valuation differences? IE MG versus NFI or WPK. Is it simply business earnings stability? Because it appears growth in Magna earnings is quite significant even relative to NFI or WPK.

In our combined portfolio, we hold the following Industrials: BAD, EIF, KBL, NFI, SIS, and STN. In this group, we're frustrated with EIF and are just breaking when considering its healthy dividend. I like your idea of "forever" stocks and note that CNR is your pick in this sector. My questions are: Given that all of the above (with the exception of EIF) are performing well, would you be OK with replacing EIF with CNR, or perhaps you have a better suggestion? Are there too many Industrials in our portfolio and is it time to exit one or more of the group?

As always, your advice is greatly appreciated and valued.

Q: I would like to add to one or two of the above stocks with my gains from Shopify. In a well diversified portfolio I am looking for dividend income with some growth. I hold all of the above just slightly less than a 2% allocation in the portfolio.

Q: I am a retired, conservative, dividend-income investor with a well diversified portfolio, including a company pension, CPP, annuities, Fisgard Capital, and equities via RBC Cdn Equity Income, Sentry Cdn Income, Sentry Global REIT, ZLB, XIT, AS, ALA, AQN, BCE, BNS, CSH, CGX, ECI, FTS, PBH, PEY, ABT, RY, WCP, WSP and a small position in Sprott Energy. Looking under the hood, this portfolio has 33% of its value in non-Canadian assets, which is at my comfort level.

Question 1 = I know portfolio make-up is very personal, but when is there too much foreign content in a conservative retirement income portfolio? Adding ZWE pushes my foreign content over 35%.

Q2 = most of the distribution for ZWE is capital gains, ROC and about 30% interest income. I plan to put ZWE in my cash account...make sense?

Q3 = I already have roughly 22 securities, which is plenty enough for diversification. I am hesitant to add more, but I think ZWE makes a good fit. A second alternative would be to continue to "trim and add" as the allocation #'s make sense. A third alternative would be to simply add NFI to top up my industrial allocation.

Q: Further to Ebrahim's question, TSX shows NFI to be Consumer Cyclical. That's where I have it in my portfolio but would change that to Industrial if need be.
