Q: What are the best utilities companies in the US to buy now. I am not interested in the limited partnerships.

Q: Is NGG currently good value? Can you recommend other similar quality dividend paying alternatives?

Q: I do believe that our future will be elecrified, though it will take more than a decade to make real progress. Copper will be a key raw material but we will also need motors, batteries and control systems. Renewable power producers will also be needed of course, but I am more interested in the device side rather than the power production side.

If you wanted to start a mini-portfolio of companies that are likely to be key to an electrified world, how would you begin and can you suggest a few companies that will likely be key players?

Q: It seems the world’s electrical grid is going to look a lot different in the future. All the talk is around digitization and decentralization, whereby DER’s (distributed energy resources) will add supply back into the grid (solar panels, generators, even EV’s) and the local utility will also be able to reduce demand remotely by adjusting your a/c, hot water tank etc. all enabled by smart meters/networks driven by the technology of the internet of things and AI. My question is do you have an idea who the capital light kind of tech companies are that are going to provide the services to all the Utilities out there to make this happen? It is already happening in few places on a small scale, but the addressable market going forward is mind boggling. I guess I would much sooner invest in the tech than the guys digging lithium out of the ground! Any info appreciated, thanks.

Q: There are many small cap (and some larger cap) companies looking into new technologies for energy storage systems. As innovation in this area would appear to be necessary with most “green” energy solutions to our current climate problems, have any of these come to your attention as worthy of speculative investments?
A couple of recommendations for further research would be appreciated.

Q: What percentage of a portfilio would you allocate to renewable enegy. I have organized possible holdings into 3 groupings: A. asset allocators, like BEP-un, CWEN; B. technology enhancers, like ARRY, SHLS, RUN, C. Electric utility deliverers: AES, FTS. I would ssk that you recommend a your preferred namres for each grouping. My questions are: 1. Is this a useful way to organize and, if so, what percentage would you allocate to each grouping? 2. Q: I am trying build a list of buy and forget core stocks for each sector. I hold the following utilities in various accounts: FTS, BIPC, BEPC, AQN, NEE, BLX, NPI. Can you please rank these for safety and also for growth. I hold BLX in a corp account because it has the lowest yield - do you see BLX as a long term buy and forget stock? Thanks.

Q: In anticipation of a possible recession in the near future, I would like to slowly tweak a few of my holdings. Could you please list some of the best sectors to hold in a recession, and if possible, list a few excellent Canadian companies in each sector and perhaps some US stocks. What may be the worst sectors to hold in a recession? Sorry, this is a big question, but one that I think many members may be thinking about.
