Q: I’m in my early 60s and will start drawing down my RRSPs in the next 5 to 7 years. As my investment time horizon is relatively short, what would be your top 5 stocks to hold over this period? Thanks!

Q: Good snowy morning team,
I've owned WCP for the last year and am now ahead 25% since the stock price "took off" two weeks ago.I realize there is much optimism in the market since the positive announcements on vaccines. Is the stock ahead of itself or should I take some $$ of the table.Analysts have a 4.25 high target price.
Many thanks,
Jean

Q: Good Morning,
Looking for top suggestions for US based ETF's that are either total US market or Global markets that pay little or no dividends. I understand that saving the 15% withholding is not a big consideration, but, looking for something to buy and leave untouched for a long term hold within my USD$ TFSA and would rather see the growth done automatically then me reinvesting dividends/distributions.
Thanks so much!

Q: I'm trying to get my old fart head around BBTV. { When my TV asks me to hook up to the internet I stare at it with a blank expression } . But I have read your blog on it and if I am reading it correctly it doesn't have " good " market share it has " massive " market share in their product. But just what is their product ? " What is " unique video " ? How big a market is this ? And reading further in the blog it explains how they make money . Well I don't see a whole lot of overhead there . Just take your cut . So why are the revenues they are reporting not profit ? As I read it they had $120 million revenue and lost $11.5 million . Why are they losing money ? Could you please briefly explain your blog assuming you are explaining it to a tech idiot { cause I am a tech idiot } . I see Mr Market is so far unimpressed and I'm wondering why ? If one were to put a per share valuation on the company based on what they paid for the part they didn't own. What would that share price be ?
Q: Hi Peter
Bought BBTV @15. Shall I keep holding or take a tax loss.
Thanks

Q: Hello Peter,
I would like your opinion.
I have about a 4% position in Gold and silver stocks and have been planning on doubling towards the end of the month before the seasonal period around Christmas to Chinese new year.
I was also reading today a Bloomberg opinion that calls for an end to the bull run. And the thesis is as follows:
1. The availability of vaccine 2. A republican senate that would put a lid on stimulus spending. 3. A stabilized US dollar perhaps even strengthening. 4. Inflation? Here I may go with a probability more than 50%
Do you think it is appropriate to double position in stock and bullion to 8 percent?
Regards
Rajiv

Q: What is the outlook for a government bailout for Air Canada, and what would the impacts of a deal likely be for investors in your view?
Q: I currently have GSY in my TFSA having purchased it (at your suggestion) when it dropped in March. As a result, I have a significant gain. My question is, might it be time to move this out of the TFSA and into my non-registered account to start taking advantage of its (growing) dividend? In other words, while I still expect above-average growth in this stock and don't think it is now "just" a dividend play, do you think it's hyper-growth days are behind it?
Appreciate your insight.
Paul F.

Q: Hi team,
I noticed that there has been NO insider buying of Argonaut in the last three months.Interesting ,also that the price of gold has been very volatile and trading in a tight range.Lately some gold ,CEO,s were predicting that gold prices could reach 2500$ in 2021. Would insider buying back into AR be a good signal for investors to also load up?
Thank you,
Jean

Q: I tend to buy on noticeable dips. The momentum crowd often seems to do well so I am curious: are you aware of any study that compares performance between the following approaches:
Buy stocks at or close to 52-week highs, vs.
Buy stocks at or close to 52-week lows.
I have tried to do this analysis myself using commonly available “practice accounts”. My what-if scenarios however lack the rigor that you would see in an academic exercise. Also, a question related to the above: when one is reviewing stock charts available at the better sites, are dividends included in the charts that compare baskets of stocks? I have assumed they would be excluded. If my assumption is correct, does that distort performance comparisons in a significant enough manner as to nullify one’s conclusions?

Q: Hi 5i,
Please rank the safety of current dividend payments over the next 3 years for the companies listed below. Assign a 10 for absolutely no chance of a reduction and a 1 for almost certain a reduction will happen in the next 3 years. Although I do not want to influence you on the rankings, I would give the Royal Bank a 10 as an example.
AP.un
ALA
BCE
BIP.un
BPY.un
Please deduct as many credits as you see fit.
Thanks

Q: Hi!
Stocks have increased a lot recently and most of the above are well off their lows with stocks like BEP and BIP almost reaching their high of the year. Would you feel comfortable entering new money into the above names for income/growth or wait for a pullback? I know timing the market is next to impossible but do you see this rising market as sustainable and if one waits will the opportunity to enter still at reasonable prices be missed? Also, what are your thoughts on RDVY. It was not listed as a choice on the drop down list.
Thank you!

Q: My financial sector weighting is low. My only holding is GSY, thanks to 5i. Can you please provide some insight into this US bank. Nice to see Peter once again on market call, adding some lightness and a bit of humor to BNN’s very dry program.
Q: How do you feel about the recent run in the psychedelic therapy industry? Particularly the company Mindmed?
