Q: Good morning,

Just looking for confirmation of the recently-announced TRP and SOBO dividends.

I see TRP @ C$0.823 for an indicative yield of 4.85%.
I see SOBO @ US$.50, for an indicative C$ yield of ~ 8.5%.

It would seem to me that if one is + on the space, given recent analyst estimates for both companies, owning both makes sense over the near-term. While I like the SOBO yield, I had forgotten that the TRP yield would drop a bit.

Thanks as always.

Q: I’m thinking of selling all of my equities and buying market index ETFs instead.

I am wondering what are the risks of ETFs. I am aware of the risks inherent with investing in them with regards to NAV, diversification, etc.

What about the risks of the company that manages the ETF defaulting?

What about the risk of a run on the ETF where everybody wants to take out their money at the same time?

In the past, I invested in XSB and XLB in place of bonds. I must say it’s been rather a disaster since Covid. They reduced in value more than Bonds did during Covid. They were not recovering as bonds did when interest rates were increased. Nor were their interest rates as high as bonds were.

I have concerns that market index ETFs may have similar risks. Can you comment on these?

Thank you.

Q: Do you think post-election sentiment on solar is overly negative? At what point might solar investments start to look appealing again? Would you consider Enphase as a preferred investment option in this scenario? If not, could you recommend a solar stock with strong potential should sentiment improve.

Q: My daughter has a, no work, portfolio of these three ETFs and has averaged 24% for the past two and a half years. I have done only slightly better with my DIY portfolio - mainly thanks to you. With Trump gaining the White House would it be better to load up on VFV rather than XIC. Currently it is VFV 40&, XIC 40%, QQQ 20%.

Q: A previous question was answered on expected PNG earnings. The concensus was provided. Estimates EPS 1c; revenue $24.05M. Expected November 13 (not officially announced, however). Does 5i have a different view? What are your expectations? Since the bought deal closed a week ago, the stock has been very strong. Is it getting ahead of itself? Is it best to sit and see what happens with earnings before buying?

Q: Good Mornings,

With much thanks to 5i, my winning stocks far outweigh my losers. However, I'm thinking of doing a little post election portfolio cleanup of two stocks.

Just trying to decide if I should consider cutting my losses on Aspen Aerogels and Transmedics, or if you think the analysts might have it correct and they are worth holding for another quarter or two?

I think I may have missed the boat on Axon, which I have deliberated about buying for two years. It has gone up so rapidly with the Trump win, that it may do some consolidating for a while.

If you have some small-mid cap suggestions that you think are showing good momentum and might be a replacement for ASPN and TMDX, please give me a few ideas. This could include Axon or any other sector stock, US or Canadian.

Thanks very much,

Brad
