Q: Hi,
My question is regarding the EFN.PR.C preferreds. Are they worth holding onto considering the overall company situation? My goal here is to protect capital at this point for this particular account.
Your take on these things is always appreciated.

I have just sold my WEED holdings (at a nice profit .. also own small amounts of APHA and HEXO) and am contemplating buying either STZ or VOO .. with the general objective of further diversifying an already quite well diversified portfolio (stocks and etfs) .. I also hold VGG, VDU, FDN, XHY, and ZUH .. your thoughts? thanks!

Q: What are your thoughts on square's recent earnings?

Q: What were the main factors that drove TSGI's stock price from April to its high in June? And what has now been the main reason for its decline? Has anything fundamentally changed? I see that Poker, its largest revenue source actually declined in comparison to Q3 2017. Is this a big concern, or is most of it's expected growth to come from gaming/betting? Is there hope that when/if most States legalize online gambling that TSGI will earn more much revenue from this?

Q: in my portfolio , I have bns 20%,bce20% ipl10% enb10% ad10% and 30% cash. after this pullback , should I invest more in these holdings or go into a different sector , I need income as retirement is coming . thx Jack.

Q: Your thoughts on GSY recent quarter? This seems to be an extremely well run company...
• 34th consecutive quarter of same store sales growth
• 69th consecutive quarters of positive net income
• Compound annual growth in diluted earnings per share of 37.0% since 2001

Looking at the outlook for 2019 and 2020, revenue growth drops from (26% - 28%) in 2018, to (20% - 22%) in 2019 and (14 - 16%) in 2022 (they do note ROE will increase each year). Is this a concern? or is it just the reality of a company getting older or are they just being conservative. Last years Q3 2017 outlook was (16% ‐ 18% for 2018) (14% ‐ 16% in 2019) and (10% ‐ 12% in 2020) so they certainly beat 2018 expectations and have increased 2019 and 2020 since last years outlook.

it looks like many hedge funds in q2 at least had bought into tsgi. is that a underlying bullish sign even as the company gets slapped around?

Q: I currently have some cash in RRSP USD and RRSP CAD accounts. I also have some US cash for Non-Reg USD account.

I am wondering how to allocate VIG/VGG/ZDY amongst these accounts to minimize FX fees while also minimizing taxes.

For e.g. if I put VGG or ZDY in RRSP CAD, I believe a 15 per cent withholding tax applies to dividends if US stocks are held via a TSX-listed ETF (yes, even within RRSP account)!

If I put VIG in RRSP USD, I will have to pay the 15-percent withholding taxes on the US dividends.

Please do you have any recommendations on how to avoid paying these taxes?

Also given that VGG is listed in TSX and tracks the VIG ETF in the US, I am wondering whether there is any difference in putting VGG in RRSP CAD account or should I prefer putting VIG in the RRSP USD account (given smaller MER).
