Q: Am looking at adding some QQQ (or similar) in my TFSA but am wondering if now is the best time. Also, I am not as familiar with Invesco and usually go with iShares. They have XQQ but it is in Canadian dollars and hedged. Would IYW be similar to QQQ? Are you quite comfortable with QQQ? Would you be able to suggest an entry price for whichever one you recommend? Thank you.

Q: For a non registered account which etfs would your recommend for broad US and for tech exposure and what max weighting would you recommend allocating to these 2 etfs? Would these 2 etfs be the best for US exposure for the TFSA also or would you suggest different ones?
Thanks for your help.

Q: ETF to invest in AI in Canada .
Read Answer Asked by Scott on July 25, 2023
Q: I would like to dip my toe into the AI waters using an ETF several of which you have mentioned. Unfortunately they are all on the NYSE.Am I wrong, as a Canadian, in avoiding the NYSE for fear of endless red tape and possible US taxes? I assume that there are no AI ETFs on the TSX or you would have mentioned them, I may have missed them. Thanks in advance and for all your great work.Rick

Q: Hi Folks,
I have come across ZQQ and XQQ. What do you think of me adding one of these to my RRSP account. I would like some exposure to Tech and this seems like a simple way to do it OR would it be better to buy the individual companies themselves?
Thanks

Q: What Canadian companies whose share price could benefit from the AI phenomenon do you know of ?

Please provide some colour to each , such as % of sales, specific AI capabilities etc.

Are there any CDN ETF’s , other than ARKK:CA that you would recommend ? This would be for my TFSA where I put my riskier investments.
Thanks. Derek

Q: Good afternoon,

I am starting a RESP for our grandsons: one born in 2021, the other born in 2023.

To maximize the CESG grant I contribute just over 2500$/year.

How would you suggest to invest the funds ? 2 or 3 index funds?
Would you include a NASDAQ -100 index fund such as XQQ, ZQQ or HXQ or even XIT (Canadian tech ETF)?

I would appreciate your guidance.
Kind Regards

Q: Here is an excerpt from my Disnat statement with entries and exits of $$.

02/24/2023 01/05/2023 DIVIDEND IN ISHARES SHARES NASDQ 100 IDX ETF -78.43

02/24/2023 01/05/2023 DIVIDEND COMPANY TRUST 200 ISHARES NASDQ 100 IDX ETF 78.43

I don't know where the money is going.
I would like to understand why these amounts were credited and then debited from my account. I asked the question to Disnat.
The answer was:
These are distributions from exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

My questions:
Is there any follow up to do from my part? Does that change my average cost?
Thank you

Q: Hi 5i Team,

I am in the process of setting up an investment account for my nephew and would like to stick to indexes for the time being until he is comfortable with individual equities.

Given the current market climate and your best guess, what % would you attribute in a portfolio (out of 100%) to the following indices: VFV, XQQ, XIC, IWO, XGRO. Please feel free to suggest any other index that was not mentioned in the list above.

Thank you!

Q: I am down on all of these by about 20%. If I sell them for a tax-loss harvest, what should I do for proxies? Also, since I have no capital gains for 2022, should I sell these stocks/ETFs in January to avoid a jump in stock price before the end of the year (as tax-loss harvesting season ends)?

Q: Hello,

I need to sell approximately $100,000 from my Unregistered account. I am trying to hold off as long as possible. Looking for your suggestions on which of the listed ETF's I should sell or should I sell a certain percentage from each one given where the market is now and where it might be going? If Industrials or Health care, etc. are projected to go higher then I obviously want to sell out from some other sectors.

Thanks for your great service. It was much easier to stay the course with my diversified portfolio and Portfolio Analytics keeping me on track.

Q: Hello 5i,
Looking at the top ten holdings of XQQ and SPY there appears to be a lot of overlap.
Do you agree? Is it advisable to own both?
Thanks

Q: Hi 5i Team - Could you provide a couple (or more) ETF's related to the NASDAQ, with a long term horizon in mind. In particular are there any that reinvest their dividends rather than distribute them to their investors. Also what are the tax implications of reinvesting rather than distributing. Is there an ETF that covers all the listings on the the NASDAQ itself. Thanks.
