My question is, if Canadian interest rates drop significantly sooner and/or further than US rates, would it make any sense to move out of CASH or PSA and in to something like HISU.U?

Understand, of course, this introduces the element of currency risk/volatility. But, ignoring that, would this strategy work to continue realizing interest rates of +/- 5% (assuming US holds longer)?

Q: I have held Visa for many years and made some good capital gains. But the rules have been changing and companies allowing customers to pay by credit card are now allowed to charge those customers an extra 2-3% fee if they want to pay by credit card, in order to offset the fees charged to them by V and MA. Increasingly I am seeing restaurants, retailers and others tell me they will add 2-3% to my bill if I want to pay by credit card. I am seeing this more and more often when I make a purchase and it is causing me to prefer cash to credit, especially when the dollar amount of the purchase is quite substantial and the extra fee, accordingly, is also substantial. Even when the businesses I am dealing with are not charging me this extra amount, I am more inclined than I used to be to pay by cash if the retailer is a small business, just to help them reduce costs.

So my question is how much should I worry that this effect will snowball gradually over the next few years, with a negative effect on V and MA? Both stocks seemed to have plateaued recently. Is it time to replace my V with another stock and if so, what would you recommend as a suitable replacement?

Q: I own HTL and hope you can provide your thoughts on the medium to long term prospects for this company. It seems to have peaked 2021/2022 and has since been in a downtrend, basing at approx. $1.30. I thought the ART business was very interesting so I purchased some awhile back. thanks

Q: Hi Peter, several years ago I held a stock that a short position was taken on it and it fell because of that and I lost money due to that. Now I heard that a similar "short" was put on WSP so to avoid a similar situation as before I sold my 40 shares but this time at a profit. In this case the shares aren't acting the same or not yet that is. Was it a mistake, did I over react or is the short warranted. How do you know who to trust. Thanks

Q: We always heard Buy Low Sell high. Will this apply to these two companies , being at their 5 yr. low? If they were to cut their dividend by 30%, their dividend will still be 4% +, and the price will drop even further. Would then be another time to scoop up some more?

What's happening with PRL today? I looked this morning it was up 0.5% and now its flying up 13.6%. I don't see any news. I only recently have initiated a half position in this name and was planning on adding on a dip...but maybe a dip wont be in the cards. Is it worth chasing here or should I wait to add to it?

Also...what is giving this name such a higher value when compared to GSY? GSY from what I see is growing almost as fast, even though it's a larger company with longer track record. GSY also seems to be reaching scale as their loan book growth is now growing exponentially the last year or 2. GSY just seems so undervalued all the time it's hard to understand what more investors can want here with the name.

Q: Ross this morning commented on Warren Buffet’s advice to buy index funds. This advice is aimed at the ordinary, non stock picking expert, of which group I consider myself a member. Because of this membership I have thought a lit about putting that advice into practice. The reason I didn’t do that completely is because of the development of 5i Investing.
