Thanks

Q: I wish to buy some US stocks. In the past I have simply sent CAD to my US account and paid the exchange. Now with Canadian Depositary Receipts being available what is the real cost of owning them. My instincts tell me that there must be a fee somewhere or they wouldn’t go to the trouble of creating this type of transaction.
My other option is to try Norbert’s Gambet and save the exchange rate.
Your comments please.

Q: Your thoughts on Q4 and annual earnings. Do Special charges seem reasonable?
Q: Hello, can you please comment on ADF Group's new contracts and whether this might make the stock a buy? Thanks.
Q: Hello Team, I am currently sitting on cash in my FHSA, I would most likely be looking to use these funds in the next 5 years. What is your recommendation?

Q: All three companies reported yesterday. Can you review results for each with special attention to any strengths/weaknesses? Any surprises? Outlook for stock performance going forward? How strong is 5i's conviction in each (rate out of 10).
Q: This may be a challenge to the usual 5i analysis.
According to reports the so-called “ Mar-a Lago Accord” seeks to have the Treasury only issue zero interest rate 100 year bonds, and they would force allies and trading partners to buy those bonds. The intention is to reduce interest rates and thereby help the fiscal deficit and reduce the value of the dollar ( the joke of course is that Trump also wants a strong dollar and threatens countries that try to settle in anything but the US$).
I have to roll my eyes at this nonsense. Cash is a zero interest perpetual bond. Basically they want bond owners to hold cash. If they want that ,they should simply stop issuing Treasury bonds. Of course if they did that they would rip the clothes off the emperor.
In the context of MAGA thinking this is an attack on Fed Independence, however it is also inflationary in the way Q.E. was inflationary (asset inflation).
I have to give the Republicans credit for coming up with yet another novel way to enrich those of us living off our capital.

Q: Kraken announced a sizeable order today - $34M. The stock has recently sold off a bit but is up 14% today as of this writing. How material is the order? Was it expected? Have they updated their outlook for 2025? Out of 10, how would you rate the stock as a buy? I'm trying to decide whether to make it a full position.
Q: Kim Bolton was on BNN today and he prefers SentinalOne over Crowdstrike.
Could you please give me your comments on this.
THank you

Thanks

Q: With regards to the rate reset spread being, as I read it , 5 yr+ 3.15 % …would that 5yr be a US Treasury or Bank of Cda bond / rate …there is a meaningful difference between the two now…I realize they pay in US$…many thanks

Q: Hi,
This is my first question so I hope I am doing it right.
I recently transferred a small pension to a LIRA because of the amount time before retirement (20+ years). I feel like 70% VGRO because of it's holding diversity and with 30% VFV to raise my risk but not all the way to a VEQT risk. Is this a responsible train of thought?
Also, do you recommend a dividend ETF as well because reinvesting dividends the only way I would be able to farther contribute to a LIRA or is that even necessary?

Q: XPEL released earnings this morning and the market does not like it. Mostly bad news in there and more head winds and issues they are dealing with. Its starting to seem like more bad quarters than good with XPEL and it'll be in the dog house for a while. But looking for your unbiased opinion, is it still a hold or start looking for the exit? Thx
