Q: Hi, new member here and a bit overwhelmed with reviewing all the stocks being discussed.
Can you give your top 3 growth, balanced and income stock picks today that you feel are undervalued/oversold with good growth/future prospects?
Your picks don't have to be in your current portfolio's. I would like your top picks overall.

I am looking for a long term trend, not short term trade
I looked at the XEG (etf for oil & gas) for a 10 year period, it has lost money
and all the way back at 2001/2002 (18 years) ; it has lost money
given the current govt policy to discourage building pipelines to enable Canada to sell oil to other countries at the World market price and the general trend of attacking Alberta to have dirty oil, is there any scenario that could change the long term trend for an index etf like XEG ? I do hold some pipelines to generate dividends but I could sell the position of XEG and put them in pipelines to generate some dividends (primary goal)with hopes of some capital appreciation (secondary) instead of losing my capital

Q: Peter/Ryan, I have held 50 shares of BEP for a while now with my original cost being 1576.30 and have noticed that the book value is 1335.84, and that it has been going down through the years, how is that. Is it worth holding, or do I lose if I hold on to it over time. Thanks

Q: Hi, In my opinion, right now it's a good time to enter the UK and France markets. I've looked at a few mutual funds, however none target these markets aggressive enough for my liking. I'm now considering purchasing a few blue chip companies that operate out of these countries. From my understanding, in order to do this, I must purchase them through the OTC. Is that correct, and if so, do you consider this an acceptable strategy? Thanks.

Q: I have held this trust for 7 years and it has performed nicely for me as I have held it for income only. Lately for the first time it has faltered in unit price and I am wondering how safe the units are and the very nice payout it produces monthly.

Q: I own many POW shares, some as the result of PWF merger. I would like to sell some of the POW, incur the loss and buy something else in the financials stocks. I already have SLF, MFC, FSZ and banks (BNS, TD, CM). And some preferred shares, mostly PWF/POW/ RY in this sector. I am reluctant to replace POW by GWO. Would IAG be a good candidate at the moment? Or take a risk in Us banks thru ZUB for example?.

I might sell FSZ because my expectation for a takeover or merger seems to diminish. Or would you keep it after their recent changes, since I don’t need more losses at the moment.

Q: More of a comment than a question. I so appreciate the changes to the Portfolio Tracking and Analysis. The summary at the bottom is terrific as is the up to date plus minus column. Also wondering if a column indicating the date of purchase would be another fine improvement. Is that a possibility?

Q: I've held Facebook for 3 years and it has been a rollercoaster. It's a company that everyone loves to hate, and I am thinking of taking my profits and investing elsewhere. What would be a replacement stock in a similar area?

Q: Do you ever trade options or use options as part of your trade strategy at 5iresearch? I also get an email from another group in the states called Investment House and they use options along with the stock purchase of the same stock and they get a huge % return on the options when they pick them right. The free newsletter don’t tell ya about the ones they get wrong but a lot of the US stocks they pick are the same ones you always recommend in your questions when someone asks. Just curious. I know options are a larger risk for sure.

Q: hello 5i Research team, AIF sold its investment in REAL at 5ish dollars less than two years ago while they were insiders and had a representative one REAL’s board. Now that we know what happen since then. What can that tell you about AIF? Lack of vision? Certainly not a desperate need for cash. Q: hello 5i Research team, Csu : do you know if the future spinoff of CSU on the Netherlands exchange going to trade as an ADR on another exchange? Do you know if it is expensive for retail investors to trade on the Netherland exchange? Do you think CSU is victim of conglomerate discount and that such spinoff is a reflection it? CSU recently nominated 4 new board members. It’s not often a company nominates 4 new board members. Do you think something is brewing for such a stable company? Could you clarify the meaning of a phrase you use sometimes: « We would consider it fine to own right now, for a 3 year+ period. »? Do you mean: it is a good company/investment, but : it might be fully valued currently? Or it might be volatile for an ownership over a short period of time? Or something else? You have been rightly complemented many times for
or your wise counsel recently. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the group for their many varied questions. Both the questions and answers have helped me a lot.
For various reasons I have not visited the Asset Allocator section for some time and find that I am not as well 'balanced' as I should be. I am over invested in financials (BAM.A, TD, BNS, RY and SLF) and grossly underinvested in Consumer cyclicals. I am also overinvested in Canada. Could you please suggest 2-3 US and Canadian Consumer cyclical stocks?
