Q: I am thinking to add either SQ or LSPD for a 3-5 years holding in my TFSA account. Which one would you recommend? SQ is quite "expensive". Does LSPD still consider "expensive" with their recent drop in share price?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Q: A gem of an answer to Brad's excellent question on Gold on September 25th.
Your usual suspects made the list with FNV/AEM pairing!
What would be your favourite pair in the small/mid cap Gold sector. (Low or no debt, Good growth potential, stand to benefit from the price increase in Gold, good momentum etc.,
Up to 10% means 10,000 per 100,000 dollars, 20 k per 200 k and such, no? Will need a small Gold portfolio with mixture of Large/mid and small caps, or just stick to large players like FNV,AEM,KL,NGT?

Q: WEF is down right now with a good dividend. There's a strike going on with the company, the forest sector in BC is down plus the trade situation with the US and China is still not good. The debt situation for WEF appears to be OK. Your thoughts on a longer term hold 2-3 years until we get out of this slump??

Q: Hello 5i. I would like your opinion on the renewable energy industry. These companies seem to have done well over the yr. Would you classify these as being cyclical and what would there cycle be? I am looking at getting into these but find their valuations expensive currently. Do you see a catalyst for their prices falling in the near future or do they have momentum on their side?
Q: I did well last January picking up some small Canadian oil companys just after tax loss selling and selling them a few months ago.
Do you expect big tax loss selling of similar stocks (such as WCP or ARC) this December with a rebound in spring

Q: Holy volume batman. Only down 3.5% on Thursday which seems pretty good considering volume is up 4500% on the day.
This stock recently broke below its long term channel on my plots and I was hoping for a bounce up, not down.
What do you read from the volume on Thursday and what are you thoughts on stock price a year out?

Q: Hello 5i,
I am sure you will get some further questions about this, so don't bother posting this if it is merely one of many.
BIP has announced the creation of a new entity that will trade separately and be in addition to the existing BIP entity. It sounds like, as an existing unitholder, I will receive 0.11 (I think) shares for every one BIP unit I hold and that this will be deemed to be a Special Distribution over and above the regular quarterly distribution. It seems I do not have to do anything, just wait to receive the shares.
So my questions are:
1. Do I have this right?
2. What might this do the the existing BIP.UN unit price?
3. Is this dilutive, accretive or neutral in terms of unit/share count?
4. Do the expressed aims or goals seem to be worth the effort and expense in creating this new entity?
5. From the (little) information available, would you think it would be best to:
a) keep the shares and leave well enough alone
b) add to the shares
c) sell them and either buy more BIP.UN or,
d) buy something else
And, finally,
6. They mention the new shares as being more tax-friendly - at least for U.S. purchasers. Can you shed any light on if these shares are better for Canadian investors to hold rather than BIP.UN units from a tax perspective?
I know there probably isn't a ton of information/detail out there yet, but thought I would ask anyway.
Thanks for any clarity you can bring to this!!!
Cheers,
Mike
