Q: Interesting article in Globe re Softbank. I am looking for some international growth prospects (especially outside of US). I hold Alibaba (which Softbank invested in recently according to article) and Tencent, the competition to Alibaba.
Would you add Softbank at this juncture given its current price?
Hold or sell Tencent?
Hold or sell Alibaba?
Thank you.

Q: Could I please get 5iResearch’s thoughts on QCOM’s offer to shareholders to purchase their shares at a price ranging between $67.50 & $60. The downside of the offer is that the US government will treat the payment as a dividend payment, subject to a 30% withholding tax. To get the withholding tax back there will be forms to file with the US government once the sale is completed. Presently my shares are in a non-registered account, have a 4% gain & pay a 3.5% annual dividend. Would you recommend just selling the shares now on the open market or holding the shares for future growth. They account for 23% of my US info tech sector & 3% of my total US portfolio. Thanks … Cal

Q: So Druckenmiller and Soros are putting more bets on oil. I'm not an oil expert, but I do understand the operational leverage that can be created. I also understand there are specific Canadian specific variables to profitability with the pipelines and oil sands etc. If I were to bet with these two, could you give me a list of Canadian oil Companies to bet on? Could you also comment on any possible reason they see oil as attractive?

Much Thanks,

Wayne

Q: UFS seems to be setting new highs and is now up The stock is up 34% over 1 year and has been setting new highs. The positive momentum continues. Should I be thinking of selling my biggest looser (MAXR) and buying UFS?
I thought MAXR’s latest quarter wasn’t bad however the market thought otherwise and now the shorts are circling even though as you noted MAXR is not a great short. I am a buy and hold investor and I am trying to figure if I am in love with MAXR. How can you tell if you are in love with a stock?
Is it correct to assume if I sell MAXR and buy UFS I will be derisking the portfolio or am I deluding myself? Is UFS an industrial or materials stock?
Thanks,
Jim

Q: I am holding 100 shares of Qcom and have been in the red for years... fortunately it pays a decent dividend... Do you feel that this stock will improve Following the upcoming Dutch Auction ? You have suggested this stock several times to your readers... You recommended holding out for a better price when there was an interested buyer...After several disappointments, do you feel the buyback is a good thing at this point ? ...or it just creating an event to raise its stock price ?
