Q: Dear Peter,

This question is based on your excellent article in Canadian Money Saver Nov/Dec 2015! How time flies, eh?! Titled: Setting up a US income portfolio with call options.

Several years ago I had asked if you have written any follow articles on this strategy? If you have, please post the links for all of your subscribers. That would be helpful.

But my question is this:
Based on the criteria that you highlighted in that article if you had to choose Five stocks what would those stocks be today?

I am semi retired senior citizen who can allocate 10-15% of my portfolio to this strategy.

Many thanks in advance.
Mano.

Q: Hi 5i Team - Could you give a brief explanation of what VMS is. Also is this the main component of all three: CSU, Topicus and Lumine. I have some understanding of the operations of these three companies but am still somewhat confused as to their differences from each other. Are there any major competitors and if so could you name a couple. Thanks.

Q: Hi there, I've been holding nxpi at a loss for about 2 years now and I'm getting fed up. I am into it at about $200 a share. Would you suggest that I hold? It had a run up to the $180s in Feb but has since fallen back. I find it painful as it seems to fall all the time. Should I hold and wait and see or move on? Thank you,

Jason

Q: You have taken some heat on WELL and some other small caps, so I thought we would throw in a comment for some balance. In mid March I was thinking of taking a flyer on FRC and you were very cautious about such an idea. You said, and I paraphrase, 'we don't like stocks than can potentially go to zero'. That was enough to keep me on the sidelines. Now, FRC is down about 65% since then, and might not make it through the weekend. I wanted to thank you for your advice, and sometimes the 'don't buys' are good as or better than the buy ideas. Thank you for your service and keep up the good work.

Q: Hi Team,
What’s your thoughts on Ats share price currently? Is it a buy going into earnings or a bit risky at todays valuation? Share price seemed to be consolidating lately , but recently bouncing up some again now to new highs . What do you predict with upcoming earnings for the company? Do you still feel the company is set to be performing well for the foreseeable future?

Thanks
Shane

Q: So NWH.UN announced a successful debenture issue today which will have the effect of reducing interest expense. On the surface this seems like good news, but I am wondering why someone would buy it. The interest rate is lower than the dividend yield and the convertible price is still about $2 higher than currently trading. I can see buying this if you were convinced there was going to be a dividend cut, but I doubt that will be the case at least in the near term given managements stated recent focus. What am I missing? Why would someone buy this debenture? I am an income investor and have a 2% weighting and am thinking of increasing it to 5%…..if I can figure out an answer to my question. Would you be ok with a 5% weighting in this stock under these circumstances?

Thanks in advance. Love the service.

Q: I hold the following in loss positions and need to raise some money and sell 2 of these dogs. In the past I have sold my winners hoping for recovery on the losers but I am trying to fight the psychology of that tendency. Could you rank these in with the 1st ranked being the highest conviction sell. Also, if inclined perhaps you could comment and provide your perspective on this most annoying human trait. John

Q: Hi, I was interested to read the question and answer you had yesterday on whether you would pick google over Microsoft (you sided with google). I hold google at a loss (down around 15%). I have been concerned by the argument that ai search will ultimately harm google’s main income source - it’s search engine. One analyst even said google is at risk of cannibalizing its own business with its ai search engine. The other argument against google was that it has only market share to lose against the bing/Microsoft challenge. Can you address these arguments? The fear seems to be that google is a potential candidate for being the next yahoo or Kodak which of course is a little premature to call but that seems to be the bear argument on google.

Thank you.

Jason
