Q: My sister needs to park around $90,000 which she intend to put on a house down-payment next February.
She can get around 4.5% for a 9-month GIC.
From reading your website over the years, I know that the above funds are also an option. However, I don't know how to judge the return that can be expected.
Which of the two options (GIC or one of these funds) would you recommend?
Thanks as always.

Q: Hi Peter and Team,
Happy Friday! Question for you about investing in vehicles related to copper. It feels like we are in and headed for a greater supply crunch for Copper as a commodity and I am wondering what your thoughts are on the direction of copper and best ways to be involved in the sector.
I put Foran Mining Company as the specific company for this question as I know Pierre Lassonde is involved in that and he is a legend in the industry so curious on your thoughts on it or if you have other ideas. Please feel free to take more than one credit if this is multiple questions.
Thanks!

Q: Hi 5i,
Any reason for the LifeCo's selling off? Is it just all financials being caught in this sell-off? I'd have thought rising rates would be good for them. Thx.

Q: I have held TOY for a number of years while its done nothing and I am considering a switch to ATZ. Before I throw in the towel on TOY, I would like to check a few things with you:
1) what are the current and projected P/E's for each stock?
2) what are the projected growth rates for each stock?
3) I believe TOY has a rock solid balance sheet, do you have any concerns about ATZ's balance sheet and ability to weather a possible recession? If so, ewhat are the concerns?
4) On a scale of 1-10 what are the chances of each company still being around in 5-10 years?
5) which stock has better short term and which has better long term opportunites? 6) would you make the switch?
Thanks for everything!

Q: Oil stocks as varied as SU,PXT, and ARX are all getting pummelled in the early trading today. Is this a buying opportunity or an early sign of disenchantment with oil. Is this just a side effect of the SVB failure?

Q: There has been very little press on the other ((rather large ) bank default, that of Signature Bank.
Did this bank have similar issues as SVB in terms of deposits and composition ? Wondering how many other smaller ( relatively ) banks could be in similar situations. Thanks Derek

Option#1, Autopilot All in one global index fund, such as XEQT or VEQT.
Option#2, All in Canadian equity index fund, such as XIU or XIC added to XEQT or VEQT.

Q: What does this statement mean and how does it affect shareholders?
"Finally, investors' fears are becoming reality because Rivian has just announced a bond issue aimed at raising $1.3 billion. The company intends to sell convertible notes, or bonds that can be paid back with cash, stock or a mix of the two, according to a press release.
Investors buying these notes will also have the option to buy additional notes worth up to $200 million, according to a statement dated March 6 2023"

Q: Dear 5i team.
Here we go again with the annual US debt ceiling shenanigans.
This time seems to be a little different as the level of crazy appears to have ramped up in the US political sphere.
May I ask for your collective professional views on what your crystal ball says the possible initial market reaction (bond/equity) might look like assuming they DO NOT come to agreement in time, this time around?
Is there a preferred position on Bonds you would suggest if such a scenerio materialized?
Look forward to hearing your views on this.
